△ This photo of the old man of Ba Jin is included in the book "Ba Jin's Self-Selected Essays". Ba Lao gave the book to the author's father and signed his name on the title page.

When I was young, I was a "medicine jar", often going to the hospital and often taking a break from school at home. My parents were dual-career workers, and on the days I was off school, they would take me with them when they went to work. Looking back now, when I was a child, I was full of memories from my parents' unit.

I can't remember the specific time, but it was always my junior grade, one day in the hotel where my father worked, on the big lawn, I was bored to pass the time. I looked around aimlessly and saw a few people pushing a wheelchair with an old man sitting on it. They walked slowly on the trail in this windy and sunny environment. I looked at the old man, he was so old, so quiet. I watched them, slowly moving away from my sight.

Tired of staying on the lawn, I went to find my father. I told him about the old man I had seen, and he said without hesitation, "That's Barkin." He recuperates here. ”

At that moment, the memories of the Chinese class all came flooding up. The authors of "Bird's Paradise" and "Stars" in the textbook are so old.

My father had always treasured a copy of Ba Jin's Self-Selected Essays. The book was handed over by Barkinto and his daughter Li Xiaolin. On the title page, Barkin wrote my father's name and signed his own. I once took a picture of my colleague, who was silent for a while and said: When I signed your father's autograph, Ba Lao had no strength. He went on to tell me that when Barkin gave books, he would sign a book that read "give" or "give" to someone. In this book, he only signed the name of the recipient and his own name, and he must have made great efforts to write these words. "What a precious signature!"

The colleague then told a small story about Ba Jin, a reminiscence article he had seen on the WeChat account of a literary journal not long ago. It was the early 1980s, and the author went to the hospital to visit an old man in the literary and artistic world. I saw that in the ward, the old man was throwing a tantrum at the nurse and said that he wanted the hospital to change the single room for a certain patient. The nurse retorted: "What level is he?" The old man was even angrier: "He is not as senior as me, but his influence in the world is greater than that of any minister!" ”

It turned out that the old man was holding a grudge for Barkin. Ba Jin fell at home and was injured, and his family called the hospital to ask for an ambulance, but the hospital ignored it. It took a lot of effort for Barkin to be put in a double room, but the rest was not good. The old man reported upwards after learning about it, and Barkin enjoyed the hospitalization treatment of a single room. Although Ba Jin was already well-known at home and abroad at that time, he was actually just an old writer who did not receive a salary and had no administrative level.

"I often say that writers depend on readers to support themselves, not only because readers buy the books I write, but more importantly, because they send spiritual nourishment." These are the words that Barkin wrote in "Me and the Reader". This article was included in his Caprice Tales: A Collection of Truths. Treating readers as food and clothing parents is Ba Jin's sincere and sincere words.

In the article "Farewell to the Reader", Barkin said: "The disease has taken away my pen, I still have a heart, it is still burning, it is going to burn forever." I dedicate it to the reader. ”

Looking at Barkin's handwriting, I imagined the scene when the old man signed the autograph. It was a writer who was giving a heart to a reader.
