There are 4 counties and districts in Handan City that are named for "water", Jize, Quzhou, Xiangxian and Linzhang.
Jize, as the name suggests, is a county that came from Mizusawa. Ancient texts record that the terrain in this area is low-lying, so "Jingqiu Lianbi, you can yingze", because there are many waters and wild or domestic chickens and ducks, so there is the name of the county "Chicken Ze".
Jize County was founded in the sui dynasty dating back to the sui wen emperor, and the imperial court established Jize County in the official sense here.
"Qu Zhou" was first seen in the establishment of the Qu Zhou Marquis, in the early years of the Western Han Dynasty, Liu Bang made the meritorious servant Li Shang the Marquis of Qu Zhou, and the Hou State was in the area of today's Handan City. However, at that time, the capital of the Marquis of Quzhou was in the ancient city camp of today's Qiu County, and it was only during the Song Dynasty that quzhou county was moved to today's Quzhou town.
However, the name "Qu Zhou" has something to do with water. There is a saying about the name of Quzhou County, which believes that "Yi is in the river bending, the water is swirling and circling", so it is named "Quzhou". The "Chronicle of Quzhou County", which was written during the Shunzhi period, says that "Yi is named after the river curve, and the surrounding city is also water". Of course, there is also a saying that Quzhou County got its name, believing that it was located on the edge of quliang land in the Jin Dynasty during the Spring and Autumn Period, so it was named "Quzhou".
Xiangxian is a county that once belonged to the jurisdiction of Henan. There are many theories about the reasons for the name of this county, some saying that it was changed from "Sha County" (which is different from Sha County, Fujian), and some saying that it was renamed from "Mo County". Some people also said that because the Zhanghe River in the county was rising, people needed to wade through the water, so it was named "Wading County".
Linzhang County is a famous historical and cultural county, which was once the location of the ancient capital of Yecheng.
Yicheng once served as the capital of the five divided regimes of Northern Qi, Eastern Wei, Later Zhao, Ran Wei, and Former Yan, and once regarded this as the center of his rule when Cao Cao occupied the north, and spent huge sums of money to establish three platforms, such as Tongque and Bingjing.
Later, Yicheng was changed to Yi County, but by the end of the Western Jin Dynasty, Yi County was renamed Linzhang. The reason is that the last emperor of the Western Han Dynasty was named Sima Yi, and this emperor had a tragic end, but at that time, in line with the principle of avoidance, it was necessary to change the name of Yi County, which conflicted with Sima Ye's name, so there was Linzhang County.

The ancients often used shanshui as a place name, and there are still a number of counties in Hebei that are named after mountains and rivers, such as Xinglong County, Zhuolu County, Boye County, Yangyuan County, Zanhuang County and so on.
Historically, Linzhang County has been abolished several times, and during the Zhu Yuanzhang period, Linzhang County was forced to carry out a relocation due to flooding. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Linzhang County was long under the jurisdiction of Henan Province. Until the eve of the founding of New China, Linzhang County once belonged to the Anyang Special District of Henan Province. In the early days of the founding of New China, Linzhang County was assigned to Hebei Province.
