In the late 1960s and early 1970s, China set up the Shuguang-1 space program, according to the plan, China will develop a manned spacecraft that can accommodate two astronauts, and launch it in 1973. However, due to insufficient national strength at the time, this plan was cancelled in 1972. But in fact, this is our country's first manned space program.
In order to realize this plan, China has carried out the selection of astronauts since 1969. At that time, China selected 19 astronauts from more than 1900 pilots, but later due to the cancellation of the plan, these astronauts also lost their place.
