Discrimination escalates into violence! Chinese women in Rome were beaten by 4 men on the street, and Chinese people were smashed with wine bottles at gas stations, their faces covered with blood

Today (25th), a news that "Chinese bar owners were inexplicably smashed by people" caused great concern in the local Chinese circles. At about 16:00 p.m., the European reporter got in touch with Ms. Zhao, a compatriot of overseas Chinese in Italy who released the news, and further learned about the complete course of the incident.

When the reporter dialed Ms. Zhao's phone, she had just returned from the police station to the bar.

According to Ms. Zhao, she and her husband have been living in Italy for more than ten years, and are currently opening bars in bassano del grappa in northern Italy, surrounded by many local Italian friends and friends from other countries. "We've always had a good relationship with the people around us, and we help others when they need help, and we really didn't think this would happen to us."

Ms. Zhao told reporters that yesterday (24th) at about 10 p.m., husband Mr. Zhang passed through the gas station to prepare to refuel, because there are only 50 euros around him, Mr. Zhang went to the gas station bar to change the change, but the bar staff immediately drank him, and said: "You are Chinese, there is a new coronavirus on your body, you can't come in!" Before Mr. Zhang could refute it, an Italian about 30 years old who was drinking beer suddenly raised the beer bottle in his hand and smashed his head on Mr. Zhang.

Mr. Zhang was furious after being smashed, and immediately went outside the store to prepare to call the police. At this time, the injured man chased out and wanted to continue to beat Mr. Zhang, but fortunately he was stopped by two other Italians, but the insulting words in his mouth continued. Eventually, under the "cover" of the bar employee who told Mr. Zhang to "not come in," the injured man escaped before the police car arrived.

Ms. Zhao said that her husband was finally taken away by ambulance yesterday, and his face was covered with blood at that time, and he was not discharged from the hospital until this morning. According to the hospital's examination report, Mr. Zhang needs to rest for at least 5 days. "But when my husband came back from the hospital in the morning, he still felt very uncomfortable."

This afternoon, Ms. Zhao accompanied her husband to the police station to complete the transcript.

Coincidentally, at about 16:00 this afternoon, the female employees of a Chinese bar in Piazza Vittorio, a Chinese ghetto in Rome, were beaten by 4 men on the way to deliver food, also due to "virus discrimination"!

Zhou Zhongce, president of the Rome Chinese Bar Chamber of Commerce, told reporters that at the time of the incident, the Chinese female employee was delivering food, and suddenly 4 South Americans rushed to her: "You Chinese go back to China, don't be here." Then he followed along, saying insulting words such as "Chinese have a virus." The female employee couldn't bear it, replied, and was immediately beaten by 4 people.

Zhou Zhongce said that it is puzzling that after the incident, the patrol security guards in the Victoria area stopped the victims at the scene, but let the 4 violent South Americans go, "We don't understand why they did this, who should guarantee the safety of the Chinese?" ”

Zhou Zhongce also pointed out that the incident is particularly outrageous: the victim is an unarmed woman. "Now many people are worried that there are so many Chinese and so many women working and living here in Victoria, what should they do when they go out in the future?"

At present, the victimized Chinese woman has gone to the police station to take notes and is waiting for the report of the injury examination. The Rome Chinese Bar Chamber of Commerce has also contacted a lawyer and said that it will definitely pursue the matter and will never let the incident be perfunctory!

The epidemic is a mirror that looks at the real friends who are unfair to the Chinese like the Italian singer Francesco Facchinetti ("Italian Singer Stands Up for the Elderly in China"), and also illuminates the ignorant and hateful cows, ghosts and snake gods. We hope that the above incidents can arouse sufficient attention from the local community, and at the same time remind the majority of Chinese in Italy to pay attention to personal safety and prevent the occurrence of violence when they go out in the near future.
