Successfully training a hound means unleashing all its hunting potential and using it appropriately in a certain environment. In training, in addition to teaching the hound to obey the most basic instructions, it is also necessary to know how to combine its physiological and psychological characteristics, avoid unnecessary injuries, and show its excellent side to the greatest extent.

The following mistakes are the most common mistakes for dog trainers to make, and they are also the most likely to cause irreparable injuries to hounds. It deserves the vigilance of every trainer.
Make it afraid of gunshots
All training related to hunting begins with the correct introduction of gunfire, and if this step is too hasty, it is definitely the fastest way to destroy a hound. In 99% of cases, the fear of gunshots is incurable, so dog trainers must plan well and gradually introduce gunfire into training in a positive guide manner. It usually takes two weeks of continuous training time (never three days of fishing and two days of drying nets) and firing multiple shots in a day to make a hound adapt to the sound of gunfire. Start at a longer distance and slowly shorten the distance between the gun and the hound, paying close attention to its reaction in the process.
Force it into the water
The second shortcut to destroying a potential hound is to force it into the water. You know, even Labrador dogs, who are born with good water characteristics, need to be gradually guided into the water in a controlled and positive way, especially the younger dogs. Find an area with a hard bottom, shallow and warm water, and no need to swim at the height of the hound, guide the hound to go down into the water first, and then guide it to a deeper place after its self-confidence is established. If this step is done correctly, potential dogs generally don't take long to swim well.
Do not teach it to recognize false baits
During hunting, bait is a commonly used tool. However, hounds must not be able to understand what these baits are for like humans, and their nature determines that they will have the urge to chase when they see these fake baits. So, we have to do some targeted training, starting with a simple bait group, first showing the hounds how to walk through the bait group (if the string is used, teach them how to avoid the rope action, so that they are not entangled in the rope), and then throw out a dog training toy, issue instructions for them to pick up, and slowly the dog will understand which object to move towards.
No "don't move" training
Training a hound to stay still is a very necessary project, which is an important training to cultivate its patience and ensure its safety in hunting. No one wants their hounds to act without permission when they hear the gunshots of others or see other prey, but to move and carry them out after their own instructions have been issued. Immovable training should be carried out every day, implemented into daily life, exercise hounds can withstand the general temptation, strictly implement the instructions of the owner.
When training it, with more patience and love, it will become a good partner in our hunting process, and it will also become a good friend and good partner in our daily life.
