How exactly did the Prophet Muhammad die?

On June 8, 632 AD, the Islamic prophet Muhammad died in the Arab city of Medina.

After several days of fever, headaches and weakness, he died at the home of his wife, Aisha. It looked like his head was on Elsa's lap when he died. He was buried in the same place where he died, in Elsa's house. Later, his tomb and green dome were built in that place.

After several days of fever, headaches and weakness, he died at the age of 63 at the home of his wife, Aisha.

It looked like his head was on Elsa's lap when he died. He was buried in the same place where he died, in Elsa's house.

Later, his tomb and green dome were built on this place, and everything was placed in the composition of the Prophet's Mosque, which is the second holiest place in Islam (after the Holy Mosque in Mecca). After Muhammad's death, the question of succession arose.

The problem is that the prophets had no living sons, so it was impossible to inherit them directly.

Interestingly, Muhammad had 13 wives, and the Aisha mentioned in it appears to be the most popular wife (she is also known as Aisyah or Ayesha). During his life, Muhammad had three sons (all of whom died before him) and four daughters.

Of his daughters, the closest to him was Fatima, who was married to Ali. Today, Islam is divided into two main groups: Sunnis and Shiites. They are divided over Muhammad's successor.

Shia Muslims believe that Ali, the son-in-law of the prophet, has been chosen by Allah as Muhammad's successor.

However, Sunnis (and more groups) believe that Abu Bakr-Aisha's father, Muhammad's father-in-law, is Muhammad's rightful heir. Sunnis revere Abu Bakr as their first caliph (derived from the Arabic term "Khalifa", meaning successor or representative).

Disagreements over the issue of heritage led to a struggle between various Islamic groups that continues to this day.
