Stealing chuantu first-class cultural relics, 16 years later he packaged himself as a "celebrity"

In 2004, the ancient books in the collection of the Sichuan Provincial Library were stolen, and the stolen items included the first-class cultural relics of the Tang Dynasty Buddhist scripture "Jin Guangming Most Victorious King Jing JianDi Shen pin no. 18". The police were unable to extract valuable trace physical evidence at the scene of the crime, and due to the conditions of the investigation at the time, the case has not been solved.

Until last year, an auction information brought a turnaround in the case, the police went down the line to investigate, found that the key clues locked the suspect, the backlog of cases was finally successfully solved.

The cultural relics recovered by the police are "The Eighteenth Divine Product of the Golden Light Most Victorious King Jing".

On June 10, the Ministry of Public Security held a press conference, at which Wang Qinghong, deputy director of the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Sichuan Provincial Public Security Department, reported on the backlog of cultural relics stolen from the Sichuan Provincial Library. The cover news reporter interviewed pu Yunyi, an instructor of the criminal investigation detachment of the Chengdu Municipal Public Security Bureau, who was responsible for handling the case, and the police officer of the special case team responsible for handling the case.

Chuantu cultural relics were stolen

The investigation of the case has reached an impasse in a 16-year backlog

On December 13, 2004, when the staff of the Sichuan Provincial Library in charge of ancient books came to the sixth floor of the library, they suddenly found that the iron lock of the library had been destroyed, the wooden box containing the ancient books had been thrown aside at will, and the Scroll of the Tang Dynasty Buddhist Scripture "The Eighteenth Golden Light Most Victorious King's Scripture Firmly Divine Product" in the box had long been missing, and the stolen Tang Dynasty manuscript was a first-class cultural relic of the library and had important historical and cultural relics value. Immediately, the staff reported the case to the Chunxi Road police station.

Because no valuable trace physical evidence was extracted at the scene, the investigation work was at an impasse due to the investigation conditions of that year. Pu Yunyi introduced that in 2005, the Sichuan Provincial Library was relocated, the old site no longer existed, and the reporter of the library died that year, and the retirement of the staff at that time, it was even more difficult for the police to investigate and visit.

Over the years, the Sichuan police and related cultural relics departments have not given up the investigation of this case, and this backlog of cases finally ushered in a turnaround last year.

An auction message turned the case around

The police looked down the line and found key clues

On August 29, 2020, Guangdong Chongzheng Auction Co., Ltd. released the news of "Southwest Famous Ru Lin Sijin and His Friends shuzha | Chongzheng 2020 Spring Auction", and the letters and letters of modern and modern celebrities such as Xie Wuliang and Liu Shipei to be auctioned are all part of the Collection of Fish and Geese in the collection of Sichuan Provincial Library.

Fish and goose set

The auction information caught the attention of the library staff in Sichuan Province. "Fish and Goose Collection" is originally a collection of the Sichuan Provincial Library, so is it a genuine or fake that will be auctioned? After an inventory by the Sichuan Provincial Library, it was found that 6 of the original 7 volumes of the "Fish and Goose Collection" were indeed missing.

After receiving the briefing, the Sichuan public security organs quickly carried out verification work and reported the situation to the Ministry of Public Security. The Ministry of Public Security immediately deployed the Guangdong police to withdraw and temporarily detain the cultural relics, directed the Sichuan public security organs to set up a special team to carry out the investigation, and organized and coordinated the public security organs in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong and other places to fully cooperate.

On September 8, the special case team, together with the cultural relics department and the staff of Chuantu, rushed to Guangzhou, and after on-site identification and preliminary appraisal, it was determined that the lot was the "Fish and Goose Collection" of the Sichuan Provincial Library, and the special case team seized the cultural relics involved in the case in accordance with the law and comprehensively carried out the investigation of the case.

Through the entrusted auctioneer of "Yu yan ji", the special case team found that the "Yu Yan Ji" and the Tang Dynasty Buddhist scripture "Jin Guangming Most Victorious King Jing Jian Jian Di Shen Pin No. 18" stolen by Chuan Tu in 2004, as well as 8 other ancient books, were auctioned in Shanghai Chongyuan Auction Co., Ltd. in April 2005, and the consignor was "Liu Decheng".

The special case team carried out an in-depth investigation around the clients of the previous transactions of the cultural relics involved in the case, and finally locked chen Moujun, a former criminal record of theft. On January 28, 2021, the special case team arrested Chen Moujun in Deyang City, our province.

After interrogation, Chen Moujun confessed to the crime of sneaking into the Chuantu Ancient Books Library at the end of 2004 to steal 10 collections, and repeatedly entrusted auctions with false identities such as "Liu Decheng", and the case of cultural relics stolen from the Sichuan Provincial Library for 16 years was successfully solved.

According to the suspect Chen Moujun, one weekend in December 2004, when he was wandering around the Sichuan Provincial Library, he saw that the ancient books were unattended, and he had evil thoughts and wanted to steal the cultural relics inside and sell them for huge profits.

Chen Moujun specially went to the opposite mall to buy pliers, knives and other theft tools, and stepped on many times before committing theft. From 2004 to 2020, Chen Moujun auctioned the stolen cultural relics in his hands one after another under a pseudonym, making a profit of nearly 900,000 yuan.

What is surprising is that before being arrested by the police, Chen Moujun had already whitewashed his identity, he was a cultural person in Deyang, ran an art training class, and appeared in the media many times. At present, Chen Moujun has been arrested by the procuratorial organs, and the case is being further investigated.

According to Wang Qinghong, deputy director of the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Sichuan Provincial Public Security Department, the special case team comprehensively tracked down the 10 stolen collections and found that 9 lots other than "Fish and Goose Collection" have been auctioned and transferred in Beijing, Shanghai and other places since 2005, and have successively flowed into the hands of many buyers. After repeated communication and work, the holders of the Tang Dynasty Buddhist scriptures donated cultural relics to Chuantu.
