Photographer introduction: Zhang Zhaochen, male, 60 years old, currently working in the Kaiyuan City Branch of China Construction Bank, a member of the Tieling Tourism Photographers Association, and a member of the Kaiyuan City Photographers Association. He loves birds and still life flower photography, and photographs various birds, small animals and flowers in Kaiyuan City Waterfront New Town and The Northern Treasure Botanical Garden all year round.
Kaiyuan is located in the northern temperate zone, and the Northern Rare Wild Botanical Garden in Kaiyuan has dense vegetation and good environmental protection, inhabiting a large number of wild small animals and birds. The bird shown in today's atlas is the pheasant pheasant, commonly known as the pheasant, with a total of 31 subspecies. It is slightly smaller than a domestic chicken, but has a much longer tail. The male has gorgeous plumage, distributed in several subspecies in eastern China, with a white collar around the neck, which contrasts significantly with the metallic green neck; the tail feathers are long and transverse. Females have dull plumage , mostly brown and brownish yellow , with dark spots , and shorter tail feathers.
It inhabits low hills , farmland , edges , swampy meadows , and shrubs and meadows along the edge of forests and roads , and is omnivorous. The food eaten varies depending on the region and the season. It is found in China, Mongolia, North Korea, and southeastern Siberia, Russia.
This species has been included in the "List of Terrestrial Wild Animals Protected by the State or of Important Economic and Scientific Research Value" issued by the State Forestry Administration on August 1, 2000.
