In 2005, Luo Jinyong, a border anti-narcotics police officer in Yunnan Province, was injured while on leave after chasing three drug dealers and became a vegetative person, and his wife, Luo Yingzhen, never abandoned, eventually waking up her husband. The couple's touching love story and home and country feelings have now been put on the stage of musical theater creation, and have received strong support from the Ministry of Public Security. The first anti-drug musical, "Rebirth", ended a three-performance tour in Shanghai Cultural Square on November 1, and will return to Yunnan, where the story takes place.

Li Dun, producer and artistic director of the musical "Rebirth", said at the beginning of the rehearsal: "This era needs heroes, and the people also need such stories. In order to show Luo Jinyong's story more realistically, the production team went to Yunnan to interview the captain of the local anti-drug brigade and the anonymous anti-drug policeman, and sorted out relevant literature and folklore experts for discussion, showing the local customs and customs as comprehensively as possible, and depicting the natural and social environment that raised the heroic people.
"It's a true story, and we can't tell it 'fake.'" Li Dun said that many of the clips are based on Luo Jinyong's daily life, which will look real and cute - his love process of not understanding the style is quite comedic, meeting gifts and gifts, and bringing two good brothers on a date. When mentioning relatives, they did not greet the girl, and came to the door with their parents carrying a bride price. And after Luo Jinyong was injured by the gangsters, he said to his wife "800 grams (drugs on the drug dealer)"; 600 love letters written to him by Luo Yingzhen during the more than 1,000 days and nights when her husband was unconscious... These details almost happened in the real life story of Luo Jinyong and Luo Yingzhen. Director Zhou Ke said: "The audience in the theater may forget the truth of the story, what is important is whether he can be moved and can be infected." ”

As the country's first anti-drug musical, "Rebirth" is jointly produced by the Information and Publicity Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, Tencent Pictures and Xinhua News Agency All-Media Editing Center, and jointly produced by the Office of the National Narcotics Control Commission, the National Federation of Public Security Literature and Literature, the Propaganda Department of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, the Public Security Department of Yunnan Province, and Tencent Pictures. The main creative team led by the musical producer Li Dun completed the creation of the play in a period of more than two hours.
In early 2020, due to the impact of the new crown epidemic, the rehearsal and premiere plan of "Rebirth" scheduled for Beijing was disrupted. The main creative team holds international video creation conferences online, recruits actors, and so on. Everyone hopes to use such real heroes as Luo Jinyong and Luo Yingzhen to pay tribute to the "ordinary" heroes who are silently dedicated day after day, and let people in the bustling city feel the hardships of the border anti-drug police at close range.
In this regard, producer Li Dun believes: "2020 is the year of the reincarnation of the Heavenly Dao, and many people think about living. As a practitioner of musical theater, what we want is to let Chinese musical theater be reborn in this year. ”
Tell a romantic love story with a poetic stage
In "Rebirth", the two leading actors Liu Yan and Ma Jia respectively interpreted two different styles of anti-drug police images - the role played by Liu Yan is atmospheric and stable, and the blood and gas of the anti-drug police are just run through the fierce process of fighting wits and courage with drug dealers; Ma Jia's role is flexible and youthful, showing the true cuteness of the anti-drug police. Among them, the sincere friendship between the birth and death of the "three anti-drug police brothers" and the funny and humorous love story of the protagonists Luo Jinyong and Luo Yingzhen added many laughs to the work, and also made the hero image become an ordinary person who created miracles because of love and faith.
As a musical that has always focused on songs, "Rebirth" also uses dance as a narrative tool to form a parallel narrative structure of virtual and real lines. The dance part is based on the ancient local legends of Yunnan, inviting the Dutch choreographer Kevin Pollack as the choreographer, and the well-known domestic dancer Chen Shifei as the co-choreographer, showing the beauty of wildness and strength in the mountains and rivers of Yunnan.
In the play, the "good body" that exchanges flesh and blood for peace, and the "God of Love" who supports the family with love and faith are the true portrayals of the two protagonists, while the "beast" that symbolizes destruction represents difficulty and darkness. The three characters use body language to tell Luo Jinyong's journey of "rebirth", and also tell about Luo Yingzhen's complex emotions such as hesitation, pain, and struggle.
