Klete Keller, a two-time Olympic swimming gold medalist in the United States, was indicted for participating in the Congressional riots on January 6 this year and pleaded guilty on September 29 and is currently facing a maximum sentence of 20 years.

According to foreign media reports such as the Washington Post and NBC Financial Channel, Keller was originally charged with seven counts, but because of a plea agreement with the prosecution, he was finally charged with only one felony of "obstructing the judicial process", and Keller pleaded guilty to this and promised to assist in the follow-up investigation.

Washington, D.C. Judge Richard Leon accepted Keller's guilty plea at a court hearing on the 29th, and Leon will pronounce a verdict on the case at the next hearing, but the date of the next hearing has not yet been finalized. U.S. media said that the crime of "obstructing the judicial process" can be punishable by up to 20 years in prison, but given that Paul Allard Hodgkins, the first Florida man to plead guilty in the congressional riots, was only sentenced to 8 months in prison, Keller's sentence is likely to be much less than 20 years.

Keller, 38, won gold as one of the 800-meter freestyle relay at the 2004 Athens Olympics and the same at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also won one silver medal and two bronze medals during his Olympic career. (Overseas Network Yao Kaihong)
