Director Wu Yusen's gunfight film was once the favorite of straight men like Pi Ge after the 80s.
Wu Yusen lived in the slum of Shijiaowei as a child, saw all kinds of fights and killings, and was later destroyed by fire, but was fortunately relocated by a donation from a charity.
After graduating from high school, Wu Yusen went to Taiwan to study art and began to contact film, but it was not until 1986 that he directed "The True Colors of Heroes" that he gained a foothold in the film industry.
"Streets of Blood" is a work by Ng Yu Sen in his heyday, set in 1967, when the May storm occurred in Hong Kong, which was also the most intense stage of the Vietnam War.
In order to strive to restore the real history, the main creative staff spent 4 months to do a lot of historical data collection work,
Wu Yusen spared no expense to create a grand war scene, which was seriously overspended when filming, and finally became the most expensive film in Hong Kong that year.

Ah B (played by Leung Chao-wai), Hui Tsai (played by Jacky Cheung) and Xiao Rong (played by Li Zixiong) in the steep area of Shek Kip Tail are also affected.
The three of them grew up together, although they were all born into poverty, they were brothers and sisters, blessed to enjoy together, and sad to carry together.

After the wedding, Ah B forced Hui Tsai to ask what happened, and Hui Tsai saw that he was hiding it, and then told him how he was attacked by Fei Qiang.
Ah B did not say a word to a beer bottle in the trash can to go to Fei Qiang to settle the account, Hui Zai wanted to stop him, but when he touched Ah B's eyes, he already understood his thoughts. As brothers, there is no need to say much, just to live and die together.
Pi Ge deliberately took a careful screenshot, because in this scene Liang Chaowei and Jacky Cheung did not say a word, purely relying on eye contact to achieve heart-to-heart communication, more clever than any conversation.

So the two stepped into Fei Qiang's territory to take revenge, and in the chaos, Ah B mistakenly beat Fei Qiang to death.
Ah B and Hui Zai ran to find Xiao Rong, and Xiao Rong hid with them on the mountain and arranged for the boat to run.
Xiao Rong knew Uncle Cheng, who ran a medicinal materials business, and Uncle Cheng arranged a boat for the three of them to go to Vietnam, and when they arrived in Vietnam, there would be a person named Ah Le to pick them up.
Uncle Cheng also entrusted them with two boxes of goods, penicillin, Rolex watches and some medicinal herbs, to the embankment of Saigon in Vietnam and handed them to a man named Liang Yuansheng.
At this time, the Vietnam War was in full swing, and the U.S. military's targets had expanded to North Vietnamese cities such as Hanoi and Haiphong.
When the three of them arrive at the embankment of Saigon in Vietnam, they see chaos in the streets, bomb attacks, and police killing people in the streets, a world where guns can dominate everything.
After experiencing this, the judgment of good and evil and the thinking of human nature in the hearts of the three people were all impacted as never before.
In Saigon, Ah B meets a female star named Zhen Xiuqing, who is tricked by Liang Yuansheng into going to Vietnam and forced to transport drugs and solicit customers.
Ah B decided to rescue Zhen Xiuqing, so he went to find a way to connect with them.
Since the two boxes of goods they had brought were lost in the street melee, at the suggestion of Xiao Rong, the four decided to get the gun from Ah Le first, and then go to save Zhen Xiuqing and rob Liang Yuansheng's money.
The four men went to Liang Yuansheng's nightclub with guns, and Xiao Rong snatched a box of gold from Liang Yuansheng, but Zhen Xiuqing was shot and killed by Liang Yuansheng.
At the behest of Ah Le, they were finally able to escape by water, but were chased by the Vietnamese army because they were carrying a chest of gold.
After several exchanges of fire, Ah B, Hui Tsai, Xiao Rong and Ah Le were separated, and they fell into the encirclement of the Vietnamese army and were taken away as spies.
After some torture in the barracks, Ah Le came to the rescue with a team of American troops, and the three also took the opportunity to take up arms and return fire.
During the fierce battle, Hui Tsai was injured by being hit to save Xiao Rong, and fell to the ground in unbearable pain.
Siu Vinh dodged the search of the Vietnamese soldiers on the grass, and in order to calm Hui Tsai, Ho Rong fired a shot in the back of his head with hatred, and all this was just seen by Ah Le.
Xiao Rong took the gold alone and grabbed a small boat to escape;
Ah Le rescued Hui Tsai, who was seriously injured, and left by helicopter;
Ah B was also seriously injured and unconscious, and was rescued by local monks, and the three brothers from Hong Kong were separated.
After Ah B recovered, he found Ah Le and Hui Tsai, and Ah Le lost his right hand;
And the shot that Xiao Rong fired in Hui Zai's head, the bullet left in the brain has not been able to take out, he can only rely on injecting drugs to relieve pain, has become a walking dead.
Ah B did not want to see Hui Zai so painful, he pointed a gun at the back of Hui Zai's head and wanted to kill him.
But Hui Tsai held Ab's hand with the gun, looked up at Ab, and moved the gun to his chest, unwilling to let his brother hit him on the head again.
Eventually, Ah B pulled the trigger painfully, and HuiZai ended his dandelion-like life with a smile on his face.
We always say that Jacky Cheung is a forgotten film emperor, in this film, we see his best performance, even Liang Chaowei sighed to himself, but unfortunately only got the Academy Award nomination for best actor that year, and failed to win.
Ah B took Hui Tsai's skull back to Hong Kong to find Xiao Rong to settle the account, at this time Xiao Rong is already the helmsman of a gang, in the face of Ah B's questioning and Hui Zai's skull, All Xiao Rong can do is to die and not admit the account.
Here Pi ge needs to explain the two endings of the movie, and the Hong Kong movies of the 90s often have different versions in Taiwan, and "Street of Blood" is no exception.
In the Taiwanese version, Ah B went here and directly pressed Xiao Rong on the table, pulled out a gun and headshot him.
The Hong Kong version is very different, the two went outside to stage a flying car chase scene, and the fight was dark.
In the end, Ah B was shot multiple times in the body and killed Xiao Rong with his last breath.
Although the ending is that Xiao Rong was headshot, the Hong Kong version added a money-burning action drama.
In fact, fans who are familiar with Hong Kong movies, when watching this film, you will easily notice that the place where the movie story takes place is also the Shi Jiaowei where Wu Yusen lived when he was a child.
And this film is also based on his personal experience, which can be regarded as a semi-autobiographical work.
Among them, the prototype of Ah B is Wu Yusen himself; Hui Tsai is one of his friends who often fight, and Xiao Rong is his other neighbor.
In fact, we appreciate the friendship between Ah B and Hui Tsai, but we all have more or less the shadow of Xiao Rong on our bodies.
Although we will despise the people who are ignorant of profit and righteousness, in a living environment where the weak eat the strong, there is no doubt that only by being as determined as he is can we have the certainty of survival.
Therefore, the film conveys a reflection on human nature, but unfortunately, in a highly competitive commercial society, few people stop to think and appreciate its deep meaning, so that the film was only released for 17 days that year (due to poor box office), only got 8.55 million Hong Kong dollars at the box office, offset by huge costs, and lost a mess.
Wu Yusen was even more ruthless to decide not to stick to the gun war film, fortunately, with the encouragement of Zhou Runfa and the pulling of Zhang Guorong to shoot "Across the Sea", Wu Yusen regained his self-confidence.
The love between men can be so sincere, and this story has become a good story in the Hong Kong film industry.
