Today we mainly introduce the petal shape of Chinese orchid, referred to as the petal type, generally there are plum petals, lotus petals, daffodil petals, vegetarian heart petals, odd petals and other five major petals.
The petal structure of orchids is similar, consisting of six petals of the outer three petals and the inner three petals.
Outer three lobes: apical lobe, lateral lobe (also called shoulder)
Inner three lobes: upper two lobes (called braces, heart) and lower lobes (called tongue flaps, lip flaps)
Middle: Called Ruizhu, also called nose head
Understanding the structure of orchids helps us to identify the petals of orchids.
1. Plum petals——
The outer three petals are short and round, the smaller the length-width ratio, the better, and the thickness is like a plum blossom;
Flap-ups, white heads;
The lip flap is short, straight, firm without rolling back.
Typical plum petal varieties are Song Mei and Twenty-Seven Plum.

2. Lotus flap ——
The outer three petals are thick and broad, the length-width ratio is close to 2:1, the shape seems to be a lotus petal, and the root is angled (the petal gradually narrows and thins from the middle to the petal root, which is gradually relaxed to the tip of the petal, and gradually shrinks to the end of the petal to the inward micro-roll, forming a micro-pocket shape at the end of the petal, and the front and back junctions of this section are obtuse angles, called angles. )。
Holding the flap does not fit the pocket, like a slightly open mussel shell;
The lip flap is broader than other lobes, with anterior and posterior curls, but the lip flap is best hung under the round tongue.
Typical lotus petal varieties are Dafugui and Global Lotus.

3. Daffodil petals -
The outer three lobes are similar to the plum petals, but slightly longer, with a slightly pointed end;
The petals have a pocket or a shallow pocket, and there is no white head at the end of the brace, which is one of the important features that distinguish plum petals from daffodil petals.
The lip flap droops and rolls back. Whether the lip flap is rolled back is one of the most important indicators to distinguish between daffodil and plum flaps.
If the lip flap is inverted, the outer three lobes are close to the standard of the plum petal, and can only be classified into the daffodil type category, or called "plum daffodil".
Typical varieties of daffodil petals are Wang Zi and Yi Pin .

Plum-shaped daffodil petal: A variant of the daffodil petal. It is characterized by the fact that the outer three lobes are slightly longer than the plum petals and the roots are tight. 4. Vegetarian heart valve——
Any orchid that does not have red dots or patches of color on the lip flap can be called a plain heart flap.
According to the color of the lip flap moss, it can be divided into green placenta, white placenta, yellow placenta, peach cheeks, stingra, and green placenta as a treasure.
The valve type combined with the outer flap can be divided into chosin, mesophyll and so on.

5. Odd flap ——
Where the lower part of the lateral valve and the petal evolve into a lip flap, or the petals are multi-petaled, absent, or multilabial, or multilabial, they are called odd petals.
There are three main categories:
