According to statistics, in the Ming and Qing dynasties alone, there were 1 champion, 13 jinshi, 15 juju and nearly 80 xiucai. In the past hundred years, there have been patriotic famous generals Wang Geng, famous scholars Wang Yongji, famous chemists Wang Xu, famous scientists Wang Xuan, and so on.
Xiaolouxiang Historical and Cultural Block starts from Xinsheng Road in the west, Xiaolou Lane Hengjie in the east, Wuxi Municipal Public Security Bureau in the south, futian lane in the north, with an east-west total length of nearly 300 meters, covers an area of 23,000 square meters, with a construction area of about 13,000 square meters, and 24 groups of cultural protection buildings.
In 2002, Xiaolou Lane was listed as a cultural relics protection unit in Jiangsu Province, and in 2008, it was listed as one of the five major historical and cultural blocks in Wuxi. In 2013, four groups of buildings, including Fushoutang, Tan's Ancestral Hall, Youyuan Garden, and Laihe Tower, were listed as national key cultural relics protection units.
In the past ten years, as one of the oldest, largest and most well-known alleys in Wuxi City, the repair of Xiaolou Lane has always touched the hearts of citizens. Under the vigorous promotion of the Liangxi District Party Committee and the District Government (Chong'an District before 2015), the repair work has been completed, and the total cost of restoration has reached 680 million yuan.
After the repair, Xiao Lou Lane solved the problem of roof leakage, repaired the damaged wooden components and walls, restored the original small wooden works and oil decorations of doors and windows, and restored the original combination of the building complex.
After the restoration, Xiaolou Lane is positioned as a representative Jiangnan residential complex and a cultural characteristic block with tourism, leisure, culture, training and display as the functions, and is scheduled to open at the end of July.

The Fushou Hall at No. 50 Xiaolou Lane was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, and the descendants of the Qin family have lived here to this day. In 1911, Qin Yujun, who had been Sun Yat-sen's secretary, instigated the restoration of Wuxi's Jinkui River; the owner of the old house, Qin Yujun, was a famous newspaperman who served as the chief writer of Shanghai's "Declaration" and "Times", and later served as the director of the Wuxi County Library. Fushoutang was listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit in 2013. The peony in the courtyard courtyard of Fushoutang is one of the four famous "Luoyang Wei zi", which saw 86 flowers this year, the largest one with a diameter of nearly 30 centimeters, and the flowering volume once again broke the historical record.
