About 400 million years ago, ghost sharks separated from the shark family. Ghost sharks don't like sunlight.

The ghost shark belongs to the all-headed suborder , silver mackerel , an aquatic creature named after a combination of animal traits. Silver mackerel is still called "living fossil". The cartilaginous fish animals have no bones on them, and instead have cartilage.
