
Equila spring fly
Equila is a genus of spring flyers.
Morphological characteristics
Medium-sized flycatchers. Compound eye green. Thorax and abdomen are marked yellow-green. There are 2 opposite "figure 7" markings on the back of the thorax, an inverted "T" shape on the posterior margin, and 3 black bands on the sides. The wings are transparent and the wing moles are black. The abdomen and feet are black ; the 8th segment of the abdomen is enlarged and has yellow markings on both sides. Females have a yellow band on the side of the abdomen.
habit
Adults appear from June to September. It often flies short distances along streams, ponds and roads, preying on various types of insects.
Habitat
Open wetlands, streams and rivers at low and middle altitudes in the Qinling Mountains.
