Early life

In 2008, Gordon Hayward entered Butler University.

In the 2008–09 (freshman) season, Gordon Hayward averaged 13.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, started all 32 games, scored in double figures 20 times, was named the division's best team, and was named the division's rookie.

In the 2009–10 (sophomore) season, Hayward was named Division Player of the Year and Western Division's Most Outstanding Player, helping the team reach the NCAA finals. In the finals, Hayward scored a team-high 12 points and eight rebounds, and eventually lost to Duke University 59-61.

Celtic period

On July 5, 2017, a signing agreement was reached with free agent Gordon Hayward. On July 15, the two sides signed a four-year contract worth $128 million.

On October 18, 2017, in the NBA opener (away against the Cavaliers), Hayward, who played 5 minutes and scored 2 points and 1 board, retired due to injury, and was later diagnosed with ankle dislocation + tibia fracture.

On October 20, 2017, the Celtics officially announced that team forward Gordon Hayward, who suffered hard in the opener, had successfully undergone surgery on Wednesday night local time.

Shortly after the start of the new season on November 10, the Celtics officially announced that X-ray results showed that Gordon Hayward suffered a fracture of his left hand.

Hayward collided with Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge in the second quarter of his away game against the Spurs and injured his left hand (x-ray resulted in a fractured left hand). Afterwards, accompanied by team staff, he returned to the dressing room. In this game, Hayward played 15 minutes, 4-of-9 shooting, and had 9 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block.

So far in the regular season, Hayward has played seven times, averaging 33.6 minutes per game, and can have 20.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 0.71 steals.
