Up to now, 82 criminal cases have been investigated, 44 people have been detained, 17 people have been arrested, 51 people have been transferred, and 1852 wild animals (only) of various types have been confiscated, of which 337 wild animals (only) under national key protection and 52.437 kilograms of wild animal products have been confiscated, and the amount involved is more than 6.59 million yuan.

On July 8, the Shiqi Branch of the Zhongshan Municipal Public Security Bureau received a case transferred by the Zhongshan Customs Anti-Smuggling Sub-Bureau: In the early morning of April 11, 2016, the on-duty personnel of the Zhongshan Municipal Public Security Border Defense Detachment seized a motorboat in the waters near the Tianjisha Sluice Gate in Renmin Town, and the three smuggling suspects involved in the case were arrested and sentenced. Another person involved in the case, Wu Mou, nicknamed "Ah Tian", has been on the run since the incident.

On August 5, after meticulous investigation, the Forestry Branch of the Zhongshan Municipal Public Security Bureau and the Shiqi Public Security Bureau arrested Wu Mou, a suspect suspected of smuggling precious animal products, in Renmin Town, and seized 1,495 kilograms of endangered wildlife products, worth more than 1.99 million yuan.

After interrogation, Wu truthfully confessed to the crime of participating in the smuggling of precious and endangered wildlife products in April 2016. On August 7, Wu was detained according to law.

Zheng, a 38-year-old native of Zhuhai, runs a roller skating training institution in Zhongshan. Affected by the epidemic this year, the training institution has not made any income for a long time, so Zheng mou moved the crooked brain of illegally buying and selling parrots, and did not expect this move to be targeted by the Zhongshan police.

On July 27, after receiving the clues from the Zhongshan Municipal Public Security Bureau, the Dongfeng Branch of the Zhongshan Municipal Public Security Bureau and the Public Security Bureau of the Development Zone quickly carried out joint analysis and on-the-spot investigation work, and arrested Zheng Mou, a suspect suspected of illegally selling rare and endangered wild animals, in a parking lot in Tanzhou Town, Zhongshan City, and seized 1 suspected large-breasted parrot he was preparing to sell at the scene, and then seized 24 parrots at his residence.

After preliminary identification, the animals involved are all precious and endangered wild animals, namely 5 ring-necked parrots, 16 African grey parrots, and 4 Jardin's parrots, with a value of 410,000 yuan.

After interrogation, the criminal suspect Zheng Mou truthfully confessed that since 2017, he has purchased parrots from Henan, Anhui, Guangdong and other places through WeChat, and this year released information on the sale of parrots through the Internet, and has successfully sold 2 African grey parrots, making a profit of more than 8,000 yuan.

On September 3, the criminal suspect Zheng Mou was arrested.

During the daily inspection of the Shenwan Branch of the Zhongshan Municipal Public Security Bureau, it was found that some people were suspected of illegally trafficking in the national key protected wild animal money turtle (scientific name "three-line closed shell turtle") on the Internet, and immediately contacted the Zhongshan Municipal Public Security Bureau's Special Office for Combating and Rectifying Wildlife-related Crimes to guide the investigation.

On April 7, the police arrested Li Mouqing, a suspect suspected of illegally selling wild animals under national second-level protection, in the Shenwan New Market, and seized a suspected live money turtle at the scene.

After interrogation, Li Mouqing confessed to the fact that he had purchased a money turtle from Dongguan without the approval of the administrative department and was ready to sell it in Shenwan for profit.

Subsequently, Li Mouqing was suspected of illegally selling rare and endangered wild animals and was investigated. At the same time, the Shenwan Public Security Bureau, together with the Tanzhou Public Security Bureau, launched an investigation into Li Mouqing's confession to selling money turtles in Dongguan's "Shangjia".

On April 8, Shenwan and Tanzhou police arrested Four criminal suspects, including He Moujun, He Mouhuan, He Moushi, and Qin Mouyi, in Wanjiang District, Dongguan City, and seized 97 gold turtles, a national second-level protected animal, at the scene.

After investigation, the criminal suspects all confessed to the fact that they had continuously purchased money turtles for many years without the approval of the competent administrative departments, while waiting for opportunities to sell them for profit.

According to the police, the golden turtle is a national second-level key protected aquatic wildlife, according to relevant laws and regulations, artificial breeding, operation and utilization of aquatic wildlife under national key protection of the unit or individual, must apply for and obtain an aquatic wildlife artificial breeding and operation and utilization license in accordance with the law, before allowing legal breeding and operation.

For the general public, the sale and purchase of money turtles must be approved by the competent authorities before they can be carried out, otherwise it is suspected of constituting the crime of illegally acquiring and selling rare and endangered wild animals.
