There are worms! Shanghai Customs seized the genus Milk Termite, a quarantine pest, in imported timber

Recently, when the customs officers of the three sections of Yangshan Customs under Shanghai Customs carried out quarantine on a batch of imported container timber declared as "ironwood bean board", after opening the box, they found that there were obvious brown strip ant paths on the surface of the bottom wood, and the ground was scattered with wood moths. The customs officer then used a brush to gently scrape open the ant path and found more than 10 live termites. After sampling and sending to the Shanghai Customs Animal, Plant and Food Inspection and Quarantine Technology Center for identification, the result is an insect in the list of quarantine pests of imported plants of the People's Republic of China: milk termite genus (non-Chinese species). Yangshan Customs has now carried out quarantine treatment of the timber in accordance with the regulations.
