To the east of cangshan mountain and west of erhai, there is a thousand-year-old pagoda. According to legend, the builder of this tower was a remnant of the Zhao clan in South Vietnam. At that time, there was a lot of water in dali, and the people were miserable. King Nanzhao ordered the construction of a tower here, hoping to solve the flood. Ancient books record that the Nanzhao Kingdom gathered 7.7 million craftsmen, spent more than 40,000 taels of gold, and took eight years to finally complete the construction. Unexpectedly, after the completion of this Qianxun Pagoda, there was really no flooding in this place.
When Li Yuanyang, a historian of the Ming Dynasty, wrote a local general history, he revealed the secret: There is a town tower god beast at the top of the tower, and it is this god beast that suppresses the flood. However, the ancient pagoda was built hundreds of years away from the Ming Dynasty, so it is really difficult to determine whether his words are true or false. Especially in the eyes of everyone, the divine beast was just a rumor, how could it really stay at the top of the tower. However, a thousand years later, in a coincidence, people unexpectedly found that Li Yuanyang's record was not wrong. It all started in '78.
After the first construction of the Qianxun Pagoda, the Nanzhao Kingdom built two smaller pagodas next to it. Although these three towers were once golden and beautiful, after the baptism of time, they were eventually damaged. In order to restore the ancient pagoda to its former glory, the local government decided to repair the Chihiro Pagoda, which was the most damaged. At first, the repair work was proceeding normally, and no one noticed anything strange. But when the crowd came to the top floor of the Qianxun Pagoda, everything was different.
In this layer, there are more than 600 pieces of cinnabar, sediment, sandalwood, deer antler velvet, coral, mica, golden Buddha statues, golden pagodas and other treasures. Just as the archaeological team was basking in the joy of harvesting, someone stepped on the top of the tower. Sure enough, there was another treasure on the top of the tower. It is a remnant of the skeleton, looking at the height, but 68 cm. However, it is surrounded by gilded copper skin. Could it be that this is what Li Yuanyang said about the Divine Beast?
However, according to Li Yuanyang's original words, the Divine Beast should have been Jin Peng. According to legend, the culprit of the flood is the Dragon Clan, and the Sacred Beast that the Dragon Clan fears the most is the Golden Peng. Legend has it that the Golden Peng spread its wings and was 3.36 million miles long. When it flies on the surface of the sea, it will use its wings to separate the sea water and feed on the dragon. The Golden Peng eats a huge amount of food, and can eat 500 dragons in one meal. At that time, the Nanzhao country was flooded, and the people specially asked for jinpeng to solve the evil dragon. Obviously, the skeleton discovered by the archaeological team could not be the skeleton of Jin Peng.
So, where is the Golden Peng that Li Yuanyang said? After searching for every inch of the top of the tower, the archaeological team finally made a discovery. At the top of the tower, there is a gold-winged bird, this gilded bird is only 18.5 centimeters, but its claws are particularly sharp, there is a hollow flame light on the tail, and the wings are slightly rolled up, as if it is about to take off. For thousands of years, this Dali national silver gilded and beaded golden-winged bird has stood on top of the Qianxun Pagoda, looking at the Cangshan Erhai Sea in the distance, guarding one side, which is moving. In this way, this Golden Peng has been stationed in the Yunnan Museum and has become the treasure of the town museum there.
