Heroic deeds| Hongtao: due to continuous marching and fighting, lung injuries attacked, unfortunately died

Hong Tao, formerly known as Hong Yuliang, also known as Yuliang and Junliang, was born in 1912 to a peasant family in Hengfeng County, Jiangxi Province. From an early age, he herded cattle for the landlords, did long work, and suffered unspeakable oppression and exploitation. In the midst of the agrarian revolution in full swing, he participated in the Soviet movement in northeast Jiangxi. In the spring of 1928, he joined the Tenth Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. He successively served as platoon commander, company commander, battalion commander, regimental commander and other positions. In February 1930, he joined the Communist Party of China.

In October 1934, Hong Tao participated in the 25,000-mile Long March with the Red Army. He served as the commander of the Seventh Regiment of the Red Ninth Army and the acting commander of the Provisional Division. During the Long March, Hong Tao participated in many battles such as crossing the Jinsha River, and experienced arduous trials such as climbing snow-capped mountains and crossing meadows, eating wild vegetables, and boiling belts. In August 1935, the Red Ninth Army was transformed into the Red Thirty-second Army, and as the commander of the Seventh Regiment, he arrived in northern Shaanxi and entered the University of the Chinese Anti-Japanese Red Army.

At the end of December 1937, Hong Tao was dispatched by the Party Central Committee from Yan'an to work in the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and served as a member of the Provincial Party Committee. In January 1938, he participated in leading the Laoshan Uprising. Later, the fourth detachment of the Shandong People's Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Detachment of the Eighth Route Army was formed, and Hong Tao served as the commander of the detachment.

Subsequently, Hong Tao led the Northern Route Army to attack the city of Claywu and set up an office of the Eighth Route Army in Lai. After moving north, with Lotus Mountain as its base, it met with other anti-Japanese forces in the Zibo area, and expanded the troops into two groups in three months, causing panic among the Kuomintang diehards and banning the Eighth Route Army's office in Lai. To this end, he adhered to the principle of struggle of "reasonable, favorable, and moderate", counterattacked laiwu's diehard troops, captured more than 300 enemy troops, captured a large number of weapons and ammunition, and rescued our arrested personnel. The fourth detachment was changed to the Independent First Division of the Shandong People's Anti-Japanese Coalition Army, and he served as the commander of the division. In early May 1938, Qin Qirong, commander of the Fifth Column of the Kuomintang Einsatzgruppen, dispatched troops from all directions to prepare to attack Laiwu City again in an attempt to eliminate our anti-Japanese guerrillas. In order to avoid "friction", the First Division withdrew to the town of Rusi, but the enemy still followed in pursuit, and Hong Tao led his troops to counterattack with three regiments of troops, and after three days and nights of fierce fighting, defeated ten regiments of the Kuomintang recalcitrant army and forced the diehards to cease fire negotiations. At this time, Hong Tao was seriously ill, and after the victory of the Anti-Qin Campaign, Hong Tao's condition worsened, and on May 8, he died in the village of Lailai Mountain Circle.

When the news reached the various units, all the commanders and fighters were filled with grief, and one by one they burst into tears, and some could not stop crying bitterly. The masses in the circle and in nearby villages (North and South Shangzhuang, Deng Xu Erzhuang, Yan Zhuang, etc.) were immersed in grief when they heard the news of the death of Commander Hong Tao. In order to express the mourning of the party and the people for Hong Tao, the party committee of the branch, all the commanders and fighters, and nearly 3,000 people from nearby villages held a solemn memorial meeting in Shangzhuang, Tai'an County. Everyone deeply remembered Hong Tao's immortal deeds for the party's cause of liberation for the people and the creation of the Shandong anti-Japanese guerrilla group of the Eighth Route Army.
