The cold snap hit Taiwan's aquaculture fishery, this year's distant-water catch is also slightly lower than last year, Taiwan Fishery Association secretary Huang Renmo said that the winter catch of distant-water saury is about one-third less than last year, the market retail fish prices may rise slightly; however, the annual vegetable market use of more yellow croaker and white mauna has long been vacuum frozen ready, the impact is not large.
A week before the Spring Festival, many distant-water fishing boats in the former town fishing port returned to the port to unload their cargo. Yesterday afternoon, a 300-ton distant-water fishing vessel surnamed Chen said that the ship had just returned from the Indian Ocean, and there were sailfish, tuna and other fish on board, and it was necessary to transfer to Japan after returning to Taiwan before the Spring Festival.
Huang Renmo said that the qianzhen fishing port is a distant-water fishing base on the island, there are nearly a hundred distant-water fishing boats, going to and from the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean and other places to catch distant-water fish, the first half of the year is mainly squid, the second half of the winter is dominated by saury, every year from November to January is the saury production season, and recently distant-water fishing boats have returned to port one after another, "watching the sky to eat is not necessarily."
He said the catch varies from year to year, with saury this year being about a third less than last year, selling 5 to 8 yuan (NT$, the same below) last year and possibly rising to 10 to 12 yuan this year.
Huang Renmo said that Taiwan's grouper and other aquaculture industries may rise due to the impact of the overlord cold current, but there are "safe stocks" before the Spring Festival, and the yellow croaker and white marlin used for New Year's dishes are distant-water catches, most of which are vacuum-packed and refrigerated, and there is a certain stock, and the impact will not be too large.
