Zhang Aiping, 43, suffered from encephalitis due to high fever at an early age, resulting in a third-degree limb disability, inconvenient movement of the right hand, and a certain impact on speech. Zhang Aiping said that although he had no culture and was not in good health, he never wanted to bow to fate. At the age of 12, he saw the map of China for the first time in his classmates, and since then, he has been full of curiosity and yearning for the outside world.
Zhang Aiping silently made a wish in his heart to "ride the whole country by bicycle". Because of his young age at that time, his family was not at ease that he went out alone, and with his physical disability, learning to ride a bicycle also had certain difficulties for him. It was not until 1993, when Zhang Aiping was 20 years old, that he finally began a journey around the country by bicycle. From 1993 to 2013, for 20 years, Zhang Aiping rode a bicycle to more than 300 cities and counties in 28 provinces and cities across the country. Due to limited funds, Zhang Aiping borrowed every place he went, and the meal during the trip was even simpler - a loaf of bread and a bottle of water was his meal.
A photograph records the cities that Zhang Aibing has traveled in the past two decades, and every time he goes to a city, he will go to the local disabled persons' federation to stamp an official seal to commemorate his journey. If cycling brings Zhang Aipeng a challenge and courage, then more than ten years of unpaid blood donation experience shows his selflessness and fraternity. For many years, he and his mother have been dependent on each other, although the days are poor, but he always thinks that he can do something for the society through his own ability. From 2003 to November 15, 2016, Zhang Aiping donated blood 49 times, and he hoped to do his best to help others. Today, Zhang Aiping is not only a unpaid blood donation volunteer, but also a volunteer patrol in the Anle community of Jilin Street in Erdao District.
Zhang Aibing said that he hopes to infect more disabled friends through his own affairs, be positive and optimistic in the face of life, and do his best to help everyone around him.
