A retired surgeon in France is suspected of sexually assaulting as many as 349 children, in what could be the largest case of paedophilia ever in France.

Although leskujanek sexually assaulted four children in the allegations, prosecutors believe that in his nearly 30 years of hospital practice, the victims may have been as many as hundreds.
After Leskujanek was charged, investigators said they found secret diaries with scenes of sexual assault designed by Leskujanek to design more children.
The veterinarian also wrote out the children's names, which allowed police to track them down, obtain testimony and make additional charges.
But LesKujanek's lawyers claimed that the contents of the diary were mere fantasies.
Yesterday, The Chief Prosecutor of Lorient, Brittany, Laureline Perefite, revealed that the current number of possible victims is 349. According to prosecutors, a total of 229 people were questioned by investigators, of whom 197 filed charges.
These crimes are believed to have occurred between 1989 and 2017.
Many of the alleged crimes were committed a long time ago and cannot be prosecuted under French law. But lawyers for some of the victims said: "The victims remember very well what they endured, but they were scared, so they never talked about it." ”
If convicted of assaulting four children, the veterinarian doctor risks up to 20 years in prison.
LesKujanek is already in prison, awaiting a final trial from March 13 to March 17.
