In a small shop in Renhe Lane, Beilin District, Xi'an City, an old man wearing reading glasses sat next to a pile of shoes and was repairing a pair of high heels in his hand. The old man, named Sun Jing, is 70 years old, engaged in shoe repair and leather care for nearly ten years, donated more than 1,000 pairs of shoes to poor areas, and almost all of the work income was donated to charitable organizations and poor mountainous areas.
"In the past, I would also sponsor children who could not afford to go to school, but because of my limited financial ability, I felt that it was difficult for me to really help others. In recent years, because I have opened a shoe repair shop, I hope to use more strength to fund a poor student to complete university alone. Sun Jing believes that being admitted to a university but not being able to go to school is a loss to both individuals and families.
"If my child hadn't been sick, he would have been able to get into college." It turned out that the old man's child died of leukemia in the winter of 2005. At that time, in order to treat the child, almost spent the family's savings, and then although he received assistance from all aspects of society, the child still could not escape the entanglement of the disease, and then Sun Jing went to many places to work and donated the money earned to social charity organizations. Sun Jing said, "I am not donating, but paying off the debt of affection." ”
Sun Jing's shoe repair shop is very small, and the work breaks are all inside. Because of his good craftsmanship and affordable price, many people came to him to repair his shoes. Over the years, Sun Jing has recruited more than 10 apprentices from poor families through various channels to teach children skills free of charge.
"Usually when I see people in difficulty, I try my best to help." In addition to financial donations, I write a proposal to call on more people to help the disadvantaged in society. Sun Jing said.
The reporter learned in the interview that the idea of donating shoes to poor areas originated from Zhao Hailong, a veteran who often came to repair shoes. Through him, Sun Jing learned that there was a shortage of shoes in schools for the disabled. Therefore, he carefully repaired and washed the shoes that customers did not want and the shoes he bought from the waste station, and donated them to the school for the disabled. Later, it was donated to remote mountainous areas through charitable organizations. Today, he has donated more than a thousand pairs of shoes to children in the mountains.
In the drawer of the shoe repair shop, there are more than ten donation receipts and certificates of various sizes. On each certificate, the donors wrote "Li Qing", and for more than a decade, Sun Jing passed on his love in a "nameless" way.
"Repair shoes during the day, wash shoes at night, go home in the early morning every day to rest, and open at eight or nine o'clock the next day." Sun Jing said that giving back to the society through his own hands is the reason and purpose of his hard work day after day.
