"It is our duty to guard the forest, not to let the forest catch fire, and not to let people go in and do damage." Ranger Wang Shurong spoke in a thick Hmong accent. When it comes to patrolling the mountain rangers, Wang Shurong, who has been a ranger for 16 years, has endless stories.
"One day, I went on patrol alone, the mountains were foggy, it was only 4 o'clock in the afternoon when I felt that it was going to be dark, I got lost, and I turned around in the mountains to find a way home, and I was a little panicked. I don't know how long I walked, but I also fell several times, and I was scratched a few small holes in my feet. Wang Shurong recalled.
Walking along, Wang Shurong vaguely saw a familiar tree not far in front of him, his heart lit up, knowing that this was the signpost to go home, he climbed onto a large rock happily and blew two long whistles.
Then he heard someone calling his name, and it turned out to be his wife who had come to him along the way he had set out. When he got home, his wife cleaned his wounds for him, but he didn't speak, but the pain was in his heart. Since then, Wang Shurong's wife, because she can't be relieved, often goes to the mountains with him and becomes a volunteer ranger.
The Watershed National Nature Reserve is the only, most typical and largest tropical Zhongshan mountain moss evergreen broad-leaved forest ecological nature reserve in Yunnan and even in China, with towering trees and all things blending in the reserve, which has extremely important management and conservation value.
"This is our beautiful home, and all the efforts are worth it for the green waters and mountains in the reserve." Zhu Shaoxue, a ranger at the Wutai Mountain Management and Protection Center, said. Zhu Shaoxue was hired as a ranger after retiring from the army, and has been working for 22 years, and over the years, in order to make the Watershed National Nature Reserve more beautiful, he has faithfully performed the duties of a ranger, overcome various difficulties, and guarded the safety of the forest area.

In the nature reserve, there are many rangers like Zhu Shaoxue. They often bring rice, vegetables, tents and sleeping bags and other things weighing about 20 kilograms, eat and sleep in the wind, and guard the nature reserve with a strong sense of responsibility.
"Every year tens of thousands of migratory birds flock here for the winter and fly by here. To this end, in addition to protecting forest resources, we must also protect the safe migration of migratory birds. Chen Lu, a ranger at the Watershed Management and Protection Center, told reporters that they set up a bird protection team, and during the migration of migratory birds, they had to go to important monitoring points and guardian points during the day and night to inspect and squat to prevent lawbreakers from catching migratory birds.
"Protecting forests, birds, and wildlife, we must protect forest resources, protect wild animals, and escort the safe migration of migratory birds." Chen Lu said.
