The Mexican red-knee spider, found in the rainforests of Mexico's Pacific coast, usually builds burrows under tree roots or rocks to hide and ambush prey.

The Mexican red-knee spider is 65–70 mm long, with a foot span of 150–180 mm, a dark brown body color, a pale yellowish part of the outer part of the head cap, and a reddish-orange color at the top of the three legs, also named after it, while the color varies according to individual differences. They have a long lifespan of up to 25 years.
