Photography enthusiast Bahtibek Ashmuhan has been tracking and photographing pan sheep on Mount Koxen for 17 years, and recently, in addition to recording the trajectory of wild animals such as pan sheep and goose-throated antelope, he also took precious images of rare wild animals such as lynx in Mount Coxen.

The picture shows a herd of 11 pan sheep moving under the leadership of a strong large head sheep. The sheep are all moved in small groups, and the number of sheep in each group is about ten. When the sheep are feeding or resting, an adult pan sheep is often guarded at a high place, and when an abnormal situation is found, the watchman immediately signals to the group.

It is understood that the Pan sheep found this time belongs to the subspecies of Altun Mountain, is a national second-level protected animal, likes to live in the semi-open alpine bare rock belt and undulating mountain hills, widely distributed in the Argin Mountains, northern Tibet, Xinjiang, Qinghai and other alpine grasslands, alpine deserts, alpine meadows and other environments at an altitude of about 1500 meters to 5500 meters, there are seasonal vertical migration habits.

Kanabli Humalharli, a staff member of the Wildlife Conservation Station of the Natural Resources Bureau of Burjin County, said that the county has taken measures such as reducing human intervention and mountain forest closure to protect the desert ecology in and around the nature reserve and create a good habitat environment for the sheep. In addition to the pan sheep, wild animals such as goose-throated antelopes, wolves, and golden eagles come here to feed for the winter.

According to reports, at present, the number of sheep in the Area of Coxen Mountain has increased from about 1,000 in the past to more than 1,500. (End)
