The Tampa Bay Pirates won't sit idly by when Roberto Aguayo didn't fare well in the second round of last season.
In his rookie season, Aguayo's kicking performance was the worst in the league, hitting just 22 of his 31 free-kicks on goal, and his shooting percentage was the bottom of the league's 35 kickers who had at least three shots on goal. The Pirates signed former New York jet kicker Nick Folk last weekend to compete with Aguayor at training camp. General manager Jason Licht was blunt in his evaluation of Aguayor.
"Look at the stats, he didn't do very well last season," Lecht said. "He wants to improve and he has to train hard to do that. We still have faith in him, but you always have to make the team better. ”
