It is located in southern Jordan, close to the border of Saudi Arabia, and covers an area of 74,000 hectares. Red sand dunes, natural rock arches, narrow canyons, towering cliffs, ramps and caves make up a range of desert landscapes of all shapes. While the interior scenes of the arrakeen palace were filmed primarily at the Origo Film Studio in Hungary, the director acknowledges that the appearance of the giant palace was influenced by the Aztec pyramids in Mexico.
The Aztec civilization is an Indian civilization created by the ancient Aztecs in Mexico and is one of the three ancient civilizations in the Americas. Mainly distributed in central and southern Mexico, it was formed in the early 14th century and destroyed by the Spaniards in 1521. Today, about 40 kilometers northeast of Mexico City, the capital of Mexico, the ruins of the ancient city of Teotihuacan are still preserved.

Araken Palace in the film
Indeed, stylistically, the Araken Palace is similar to the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon on the site of Teotihuacan. The Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon were both altars for the Aztecs to hold religious ceremonies.
The Pyramid of the Sun is a place dedicated to the sun god, it is a magnificent building, a total of 5 floors, trapezoidal, sitting east and west, with hundreds of steps on the front to the top. The base site of the tower is 225 meters long, 222 meters wide, the tower is 66 meters high, and the volume reaches 1 million cubic meters. The interior is built of mud and sand and stone, and the steps from the bottom to the top are inlaid with huge stone slabs carved with colorful patterns. Climbing up the stairs, there is a temple of the sun at the top of the tower, which has now been destroyed.

Next to the Pyramid of the Sun stands the Pyramid of the Moon, a place of worship to the god of the moon. Its architectural style is the same as that of the Pyramid of the Sun, but on a smaller scale, and it was built 200 years later than the Pyramid of the Sun. It sits north and south, also divided into 5 floors, the external stacked stone blocks are painted with many colorful murals, and the wide square in front of the tower can accommodate tens of thousands of people.

In addition, the design of the Araken Palace was also influenced by the styles of the world war-era bunker, the temple of Mesopotamia, the Pyramids of Egypt, Brazilian architecture, barbarist architecture and so on. In order to conform to the natural environment of the dunes, the film also designed a light well for the Araken Palace instead of large windows to cope with the extreme heat.
