Lishui, January 19 (trainee reporter Hu Dingyu) On the 19th, the Ecological and Environmental Bureau of Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, released a message that recently, a new species of amphibian horned toad family was found in Baishanzu National Park in Lishui City, named megohprys baishanzuensis, and the relevant papers have been published in the international authoritative journal of animal taxonomy "zookeys".

In Lishui, Zhejiang Province, a new species of amphibians was discovered

At present, it has only been found to be distributed in the narrow range of 1400-1600 meters above sea level in Baishanzu National Park, and its habitat is mainly mountain streams near evergreen broad-leaved forests, and the habitat is also distributed with amphibians such as pale shoulder horned toad, spiny-breasted frog, Wuyi turbulence frog, And Bingzhi fat salamander. These species place stricter demands on the water quality of streams and the vegetation surrounding them. It is reported that this is another species named after Baishanzu since the discovery of The Fir of Baishanzu.

Since December 2019, the Lishui Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment has carried out a background survey of biodiversity in Lishui, and the Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has organized a number of domestic scientific research units to undertake the project.

In June 2020, when the investigation team conducted an amphibian and reptile survey, it found a strangely called horned toad in a stream ditch in Baishanzu National Park, which was later identified as a new species by morphological comparison and molecular biology identification.

Baishanzu National Park is located in the territory of Lishui City, with a typical subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest ecosystem, complete vegetation preservation, superior natural environment, and is a rare near-natural ecosystem in the economically developed areas of eastern China. The national park is rich in biodiversity and has a high concentration of rare and endangered species, making it an important genetic treasure house in East China. (End)
