Recently, the international authoritative journal of animal taxonomy "zookeys" published a paper jointly authored by the Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Chengdu Institute of Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, describing a new species of amphibians found in Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, because its model origin is in Baishanzu National Park, so it was named Baishan Ancestral Horned Toad. In June 2020, the survey team found a strangely called horned toad in a ditch in Baishanzu National Park, which was later identified as a new species by morphological comparison and molecular biology. At present, it is only found in the narrow range of 1400-1600 meters above sea level in Baishanzu National Park, and its habitat is mainly the mountain stream near the evergreen broad-leaved forest, and there are also amphibians such as pale shoulder horned toad, spiny-breasted frog, Wuyi turbulence frog, Bingzhi fat salamander, etc. These species have strict requirements for the water quality of the stream and the surrounding vegetation.
