On May 9, the reporter and the municipal wildlife conservation volunteers released a national second-level key protected animal red horned owl at Liyu Mountain in Nanyuntai Forest Farm.
According to volunteer Zhou Chong, recently, he received a call from the police of Xuxu Police Station, saying that a citizen had found a small owl at the intersection of Petrochemical Third Road and Qishan Road in the jurisdiction and had been sent to the police station. After checking the pictures sent by the police, Zhou Chong recognized at a glance that it was the red horned owl, a national second-level protected animal.
"The red-horned owl's face plate is gray-brown, densely covered with thin black lines, the collar is light brown, most of the flight feathers are black-brown, most of the underparts are reddish-brown, gray-brown, the beak is dark green, and there are two small ears on the head, which looks cute and very cute. Since I couldn't get out of my body at that time, I contacted Teacher Aquila and asked him to come to the rescue. Zhou Chong said.
Teacher Tianying immediately rushed to the Xuwei police station and saw the red-horned owl that was rescued by the citizens. "It's a big bird, uninjured and looks in good spirits. Upon closer inspection, I thought that the red-horned owl might have hit something and fainted, and after a short break, I could find a suitable place to release it. Teacher Aquila said.
Knowing that the Red Horned Owl was found at the intersection of Petrochemical Third Road and Qishan Road, Teacher Tianying guessed that its home or companions might be nearby, so he took it back to the same place, but after arriving at the scene, Teacher Tianying found that it was a petrochemical base and was not suitable for release, so he decided to take the Red Horned Owl back to take care of it. That night, volunteer Zhou Chong brought fresh chicken to the red-horned owl.
On the morning of May 9, the red-horned owl spread its wings on the balcony of Mr. Aquila's house with its big round eyes, and the volunteers discussed it and decided to take it to Carp Mountain. "There is nesting on the mountain to rest, and there is also food, which is suitable for it." The volunteers said.
At 9 o'clock, the reporter accompanied the volunteers to a clearing in Liyu Mountain, and the volunteers placed the red-horned owl on a pine tree, but when the sun shone, the little guy fell asleep. The reporter tapped it a few times in an unsuccessful attempt to wake it up. The Skyhawk Teacher fed it some water, and it immediately opened its eyes, flapped its wings twice, and flew away.
