The fork-tailed mackerel is a genus of saw-cheeked catfish in the family Catfishidae and is a well-known killer. Although it belongs to the hairy catfish family, its appearance is closer to that of the cetacean family, so it is often called the long-bodied blue catfish whale, but both the habit and personality are completely different from the cetacean family. Fork-tailed fish whales have relatively few players, and they can be encountered occasionally on the market, but the price is not very outrageous, the price of a few hundred yuan is acceptable, and most of the wild individuals that can be seen are basically sub-adults between 10-20CM.
The fork-tailed whale's native environment is in deeper waters, areas with relatively blurred vision, so the vision is not very sensitive, but it is not afraid of strong lights, quite bold and swims quickly. It is widely distributed in the wild environment, mainly feeding on carrion and frequently dead fish, group activities and feeding. Therefore, in the artificial breeding environment, after the success of water fixation, it is quite skinny, the water temperature requirements are not high between 22 °C-28 °C, PH6.0-7.5, it is not resistant to low temperatures, it can adapt to the environment where there are more dodge tanks and dodgers, most of the time dwells at the bottom of the water body, and the nocturnal activity is more frequent.
Fork-tailed mackerel whales are quite aggressive, will take the initiative in the event of starvation, and are aggressive against any living body, so it is only recommended to raise a single breed, not to breed other fish. Fork-tailed fish whales also have sharp eating habits, applying to the bodies of other fish, using the spine-like structure of their gills to fix their heads, and quickly rotating their bodies to drill circular wounds from their prey and bite into them. If it is raised in groups, the feeding of large individuals is not too bloody.
