It is said that a big change of water for ornamental fish will definitely be a problem, so it is not recommended that novice aquarists often give ornamental fish a big water change operation, no matter what kind of fish.
The reason for this is mainly related to the fact that it is not dried in advance before, the large water change is easy to cause new water stimulation, the water temperature of the water change may be extremely uneven, and the pH shock and other issues, as well as the ornamental fish are not adapted to water quality.
If we can avoid the above problems, we can carry out a major water change.
So why did my native fish tank undergo a major water change of more than 90 percent, but the water quality was better?
I only talk about my operation, whether it is right or wrong, after the replacement, the water quality is good, and there is no problem with the ornamental fish, that is right.
Of course, it will also involve me here is the well water, the water quality is harder, there are more impurities, so the problem of trapped water for a long time.
In addition, the previous ornamental fish did not have any diseases at all, and the time of fish farming was at least more than one or two months.
Originally, the water body was not serious, but because there were more residual impurities at the bottom, there was no filtration system, and only a water goblin was relied on to maintain the water quality, and the impurities could not be treated.
This will also have a lot to do with the physique and tolerance of ornamental fish, if the previous ornamental fish are weak and sickly, or the water quality has not been completely stabilized at all, white turbidity, filth, such water quality can not be changed, can only be changed more and more bad.
Physical turbidity and biological turbidity, we must distinguish clearly.
Although it is a large water change, only a small oxygen tube is used.
The pumping time is very slow, close to an hour, when adding water, the bucket is not used to pour, but the bucket is raised above the water surface, and the oxygen tube is used to slowly enter the tank.
That is to say, every time the water is changed, it is a bottom change, but the amount of water is different, and the impurities at the bottom must be effectively filtered out first.
No matter what kind of fish it is, there will be a gradual process, can not come up, the first time to change the water, go to the big change of water, to give the ornamental fish an adaptation period.
For example, the first water change may be only three or four, if there is no problem, after three or five consecutive operations, you can change half of the water, and then observe whether the water quality has changed and whether it can be completely stable.
Then, after three or four half-times of water change, I looked at the change in water quality again, and the last time I changed the water, it was only because of the physical turbidity that I decided to almost replace the entire tank of water.
In this case, we must also pay attention to the subsequent water quality, we must ensure the effectiveness of physical filtration and biochemical filtration, as well as the clarity of the water quality of the trapped water, after all, the fish tank that lays the bottom sand will still have impurities, which will rely on the high efficiency of physical filtration and the stability of the biochemical system to solve the rapid recovery of water quality after the big water change.
If the above conditions cannot be met, it is assumed that there are many fish diseases, the water quality is white and turbid, the nitrification system is unstable, the water temperature is not trapped at all, the water temperature is extremely unsuitable, and the difference in pH is too large, which is not suitable for the operation of large water exchange.
For now, all my fish tanks already have the premise of the big water exchange operation, that is, all the fish tanks replace all the water quality, and there is no problem, but there is not so much trapped water and warming water to provide.
