Angiosperms wide-leaved black fly grass: Such a cute lantern that cannot be found with a lantern

Silene nigrescens subsp. latifolia

Broad-leaved black fly grass, belonging to the angiosperm, dicotyledonous plants, central seed order, caryophyllaceae, fly grass genus. They mostly grow in gravel meadows or flowing rock beaches at an altitude of 3000-4500 meters, and are known to be distributed in Yunnan and Sichuan. Photo taken on Hakuba Snow Mountain.

Broad-leaved black-leaved black-fly grass is a subspecies of black-leaved black-leaved fly grass, 10–20 cm tall. In July, they begin to flower, usually growing only one flower at the top of the stem, like a small lantern. If you see a flower hanging low as in the photo, then it is in the first and middle stages of the flowering period, and if it reaches the later stage, the low-hanging flower will stand upright.

If you have enough physical strength to climb the rocky beach, as far as you can see, you can see the desolation and barrenness, and then you can imagine the surprise and excitement of finding such a cluster of mini lanterns.

The genus Officinalis, to which the broad-leaved blackfly belongs, was proposed in 1737 by the famous plant taxonomist Linnaeus, when there were only 27 species of flygrass in this genus. With the continuous development of botany and the continuous extension of people's range of activities, today the genus has become the largest genus of caryophyllaceae, with about 700 species of flygrasses.

It is widely distributed in temperate and subtropical alpine regions of the Northern Hemisphere, and most species have high horticultural ornamental value, and some species have medicinal value. It is worth mentioning that there are also some species that can absorb heavy metals and are important plants for research in the field of ecological restoration.

Although they grow in inaccessible places, it is not easy to flower smoothly and bear fruit.

Plants in the genus Flygrass are most afraid of encountering the terminator of their breeding, the anther powdery mildew, a pathogenic fungus. The researchers found that this fungus is particularly fond of the genus Lycaena, which infects plants of the genus Flies through pollinators. Infected plants of the genus Flygrass only show up when they flower, when the normal pollen on the anthers turns into black-brown fungal spores.

Scholars have always favored the genus of fly grass, and many famous botanists and biologists in history have studied its ecology, evolution, and genetics. Some scholars have also deduced why angiosperms account for only 6% of angiosperms through the analysis of the genus Officinos, thus proposing the hypothesis that hermaphroditism is a "dead end" in the evolution of angiosperms.
