The brown-yellow bulbous whiskered moth scopelodes testacea butler, genus Lepidoptera, spiny moth family.
【Host】Fruit trees such as bananas, plantains, and olives.
[Harmful] The larvae cluster on the back of the leaf to feed, and the second to fourth instars eat the epidermis and mesophyll of the leaf, leaving a translucent upper epidermis, and after five years of age, bite the leaf from the leaf margin inward. After eight years of age, it is scattered to feed, and the leaves of the plantain family leave only the main vein after being killed.
【Morphological characteristics】Adult female adults are 18 to 23 mm long and have a wingspan of 26 to 30 mm; the body is yellowish brown, the compound eyes are black; the antennae are long, about 3/5 of the near base is filamentous, and the rest are single-chestnut; the forewings are yellowish with shining scales, the hindwings are pale yellow, and the proximal wing margins are darker. The male adult is 18 to 22 mm long and has a wingspan of 20 to 23 mm; the antennae are short, about 1/3 of the base is double ctenophoric, the rest of the part is single ctenophore; the forewings are grayish brown, and the hindwings are grayish-yellowish brown. The abdomen of the male and female moths is yellow. The egg is oval, yellow, and shiny. Larvae Mature larvae are oblong oval, 40 to 46 mm long and 20 to 22 mm wide; the body is yellowish green to emerald green, the ventral surface is light yellow, the head is light yellowish brown, the body branches are densely developed and dense, and the ends of all the spiny hairs are black brown; there is an indigo spot on each side of the midline of the middle and back of the first to seventh abdominal segments, and there is a pale yellow flat circle behind the blue spot, and the frame and dorsal line form a nearly "medium" glyph spot. The first to sixth ventral segments are flanked by a nearly oblong, slightly backward-sloping indigo spot. The cocoon is oblong oval, stained yellow to black brown, and is 20 to 23 mm long. Pupae are pale yellow and about 20.2 mm long.
【Living habits】In Guangzhou, 2 generations a year occur, and old mature larvae overwinter in cocoons. Overwintering adults appear in early to mid-May, and the first generation of larvae occurs from late May to late June, with cocooning begins in late June and pupates in mid-August. The first generation of adults begins to appear in mid-August and peaks in feathering from late August to early September. Second-generation eggs appear in mid-August, and second-generation larvae are seen from mid-August to late November. Adults are phototropic, feathered at night, and spawned on the day of feathering. The eggs are laid on the back or front of the leaves, arranged in a fish scales, sallow yellow, and shiny.
【Control method】Refer to the control of flat thorn moth. (1) Combined with winter tillage fertilization, the fallen leaves and topsoil around the trunk are buried into the bottom of the fertilization ditch to kill the overwintering larvae. (2) Use black light or frequency vibration insecticidal lamp to trap adult insects. (3) In the early larval stage, the Cyanobacterium containing 10 billion live spores per gram is used for control and control. It can also be selected: 50% octyl thiophos emulsion 1000 ~ 1500 times liquid, 2.5% high efficiency cyfcfluthrin (kung fu) emulsion 2000 ~ 2500 times liquid, 25% urea suspension 1500 times liquid, 20% carnylhydrazide suspension 1500 ~ 2000 times liquid spray control.
