The breeding season is from May to July. The nest is found in trees in the forest, 4-14 meters above the ground. The nest is usually placed on a branch fork near the trunk. Nests are often found in broad-leaved or coniferous trees such as medium-sized linden, red pine or larch, and are sometimes supplemented and repaired from other nests. The nest area and nest are relatively fixed and often used for many years. The nest is saucer-shaped and consists mainly of dead branches, with spruce twigs and fresh leaves such as the warp tree and the guard grass. Each clutch usually lays 3-4 eggs, occasionally as many as 5 and 6 or even 7 and as few as 2, usually laying 1 egg at 1 day interval. The eggs are oval or nearly round, the eggs are clear, smooth and spotless, 29.8 × 38.6 mm in size, and weigh 17-18 g. Females incubate their eggs, and males occasionally participate in egg incubation activities for a period of 32-35 days. The chicks are late-growing, and after 24-30 days of nesting, the chicks have the ability to fly and leave the nest.
