Yuan Jing, the docent next to the red boat: Tell the story of a big party and a small boat

BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) -- "Over the years, I have deeply felt that I am not only a narrator of party history, but also a witness and listener. On the 5th, at the "representative channel" before the opening of the Fourth Session of the 13th National People's Congress, Yuan Jing, a deputy to the National People's Congress and a docent of the South Lake Revolution Memorial Hall in Zhejiang Province, told the story of a big party and a small boat.

In 1921, on a humble cruise ship in Jiaxing South Lake, the Communist Party of China was officially born. This cruise ship is also called the Red Boat. As an explainer next to the red boat, Yuan Jing said that it is necessary to vigorously carry forward the spirit of the red boat in light of the characteristics of the times and jointly guard the red root of the party.

On the "Representative Channel", Yuan Jing shared a touching story that still deeply touches her.

In September 2019, Yuan Jing saw an old man on crutches next to the red boat, standing on the shore and staring for a long time. During the small talk, she learned that the 89-year-old had participated in the Liberation War and was an old Communist Party member.

The old man has always had a wish, that is, he hopes that in his lifetime, he can come to the South Lake to see the starting point of the party, see the red boat, and receive another party education. The old man's mental state was particularly good that day, and he pushed away the wheelchair and insisted on walking on crutches by himself.

"He told me that at that time, they joined the party, threw their heads and spilled their blood, and they fought for the new China, and the current party members are fighting for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation." Although everyone's historical tasks are different, they are equally arduous and glorious, and in the final analysis they all strive for the cause of the Party. The old man's words were simple and unpretentious, but they reached Yuan Jing's heart.

This can't help but make Yuan Jing start to think, what is firm faith, what is the original heart? "This old Communist Party member has traveled through thousands of mountains and rivers, but he has never forgotten the road he came from, vividly interpreting the pure heart of a Communist Party member for the party." She said.

A generation has a generation's mission, and a generation has a generation's responsibility. Standing at the historical intersection of "two hundred years", Yuan Jing began to think, how should the young generation practice its original intention and mission, and carry forward and inherit the spirit of the Red Boat?

Yuan Jing is far more than the only one who thinks like this.

"Not long ago, a young party member college student at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University learned from the platform of learning to strengthen the country that I have been engaged in party history propaganda at the South Lake Revolution Memorial Hall and spreading the spirit of the red boat. So he wrote me a letter in which he said that as a young party member, he often received education in party history, but sometimes he was confused, so he was particularly eager to learn more about how to draw strength from party history and thus fulfill his original intention and mission. Yuan Jing said on the passage.

In the process of in-depth exchanges with this young party member, Yuan Jing understood a truth even more: As a young person, we must draw the strength to forge ahead in the history of the party, and we must take serving the motherland and serving the society as the goal and pursuit of realizing the value of our own lives.

"In fact, such feelings appear in my work every day, and have always educated me, inspired me, and also influenced the young party history propagandists around me." In Yuan Jing's view, young party members should go to the places where the party and the people need it most to contribute their strength.

Therefore, as a grassroots party history explainer, Yuan Jing feels particularly lucky. The pioneering spirit of breaking new ground and daring to be the first, the spirit of firm ideals, the spirit of indomitable struggle, and the spirit of dedication to building the party for the public and being loyal to the people contained in the spirit of the Red Boat also gave her great inspiration.

In the past 18 years, from the initial ignorance of this job to today's mastery, Yuan Jing's heart has not changed, and it is precisely the original intention and mission that has not changed.

Nowadays, on Yuan Jing's desk and bedside table, there are still all kinds of books, hoping to enrich the knowledge of party history more; switching the interpretation style according to the object of explanation, but also in order to find the most suitable explanation entry as soon as possible, and strive to tell the story of the red boat more deeply in the hearts of the people.

"In the past five years, a total of 8.92 million people have visited the Nanhu Revolution Memorial Hall, and they have relived the original intention of never forgetting it from the history of the party and felt the spirit of timelessness." Yuan Jing said, "Big party and small boat, vicissitudes and youth, mission and responsibility, every touch comes from a original heart." (End)
