Nearly three decades after debuting on the big screen, Buzz Lightyear will once again be the subject of Pixar films. This time, however, the character will be voiced by Marvel star Chris Evans.
In 1995, comedian Tim Allen voiced the fictional space explorer in Toy Story. He will also play this role in many sequels and short films.
However, in Disney's latest animated film, Buzz Lightyear, Evans will play the man who inspired the toy.
While the differences between the characters are subtle, fans of the film have noticed the re-selection of the characters — especially the political differences between the two actors, Evans known for his liberal ideals and Allen being an outspoken conservative in Hollywood.

Many people think that the differences between these roles are enough to justify re-casting actors.
"It's a pleasure that Tim Allen isn't a voice actor for Buzz Lightyear. His political beliefs will have a negative impact on the children who watch the film, and he sounds as if he's 90 years old," one Twitter user said. "Sorry, sorry. Chris Evans is the most suitable candidate. ”
Rumor has it that Allen, 68, was never considered for a prequel role.
"It's not that Tim Allen isn't here because of bad political views," another person wrote after the trailer for "Lightyear" was released Wednesday.
Others, however, argue that changing roles cannot rise to political heights. One fan said: "Tim Allen is the face of Toy Lightyear, and Chris Evans voices the toy archetypal character... Why has this become a political debate?"
