Locustella luteoventris : 11–14 cm long , brown short-winged warbler with similar plumage . The upperparts are tanned , with slightly pale upper coverts at the waist and tail. The eyebrow lines are short and inconspicuous, yellowish or pale brown, the skin around the eyes is yellowish, and in some specimens, the pale yellow circles of the skin are formed; the cheek and ear coverts are light brown with pale or white feathers; and the sides of the head and neck are paler and yellower than the back. The wings and tail are also tan similar to the dorsal , but the tail is darker , the outer is fainter , the inner is deeper and less obviously light and dark transverse spots , and the second and tenth feathers are equal in length. The chin , throat , lower breast , and abdomen are white or off-white in the center of the abdomen , and are also yellowish-white. The upper thorax, flanks, perianal and undercoccine coverts are brown or light brown, and the undertail coverts are more or less white. Individual specimens have tan spots on chin, throat, and upper thorax. The iris is brown or yellowish brown, and the upper mouth is black brown. The lower mouth is yellowish white and the flesh of the feet is either yellowish or yellowish brown.
Distribution in China Shaanxi (Zhouzhi, Foping, Liuba), Gansu (Huixian), Guizhou (Suiyang, Rongjiang), Tibet (southwest of Lhasa, Qamdo), Sichuan (central Baoxing, Emei to northwestern Xichang), Yunnan (western and western), Henan (Luoshan), Hubei, Hunan, Anhui (Huangshan), Fujian (Wuyishan), Shandong (Liuniao).
Its natural habitats are forest margin shrublands and grasses in loose evergreen broad-leaved forests at altitudes of 390-3000 m, as well as in alpine coniferous forests and margin sparse grass slopes and shrublands. In winter, move down to the foot of the mountain at an altitude of 390-1200 meters, and even into the small bushes of the cottage courtyard. The breeding season occurs in alpine coniferous forests at altitudes of 1200–3000 m and in loose grass slopes and shrublands at forest margins. It is often hidden in thick understory shrubs and grasses. Resident birds. Timid and quiet, often wandering around in the grass and bushes, very hidden, occasionally making a low cry, only hearing its sound, not its shadow. During breeding, males sometimes stand on top of bushes and grasses and sing, but their song is very low and weak, like an insect song.
The breeding season is from April to July. Nests usually nest in grass and shrubs 1 meter above the ground. The nest is deep cup-shaped or hemispherical. It is mainly composed of dry grass stems, grass leaves, etc., and the inner pad is made of fine grass stems, whisker rolls, etc. The nest is about 12 cm high, 7.5 cm outside diameter, 6.3 cm inner diameter and 5 cm deep. Usually 4 eggs are laid per clutch, sometimes 3, and rarely 5.
