With the introduction of the EU ece r66.02 standard, European bus manufacturers need to update their products and meet the mandatory standards before they can be sold in Europe. In 2017, in response to the upcoming mandatory ECE R66.02 standard in October of that year, Mann updated its luxury bus model Lion's coach.

Once the new generation of Lion's coach was released, it won the Red Dot Design Award for its excellent design. In addition to its popularity in the passenger market, many teams and diplomatic venues have chosen lion's coach. In today's article, we'll take a look at a few lion's coaches that serve on soccer teams and see how they accompany athletes to the green field.
Bayern Munich FC was the first football team to receive lion's coach. Delivered in November 2018, the vehicle is based on a three-axle lion's coach l, which is nearly 14 meters long and has huge interior space. At the same time, its configuration is also very high-end. The 500 hp D2676 Loh 6-cylinder diesel engine is powered by a Mann Tipmatic 12 AMT transmission for a smooth and powerful power performance. Safety features such as acc, lane departure warning, lane keeping, etc. are also available.
Bayern Munich is a die-hard fan of Mann. The previous team bus was an old lion's coach. On this new bus, the vehicle inherits the red undertones of the old bus + the latte decoration, showing the character and passion of Bayern Munich. At the same time, the vehicle is equipped with multiple indicator lights and additional satellite antennas to ensure the travel of players.
The interior of the vehicle is specially built by the man individual department, and the interior space is mainly equipped with multiple leather seats, which is convenient for players to rest and discuss strategies. The seat features a red headrest with Bayern Munich's stitch logo attached to it. The air conditioning system in the car has also been upgraded, and the air change speed is faster, the cooling effect is better, and the annoying sweat smell is swept away.
The space at the rear of the car was transformed into a huge kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a large refrigerator, coffee machine, as well as several steam ovens and induction cookers, making it easy for the chefs in the car to make food for the players. The new car was delivered at bay in Munich's home game against Düsseldorf. The addition of the new car has allowed Bayern Munich to gain wings and achieve better performances.
The German men's national football team is the second team to pick up lion's coach. The German women's national football team and the u21 team also received their own exclusive bus. The car also uses lion's coach l as the base, and installs a more luxurious interior. The 500 hp engine and 12-speed amt transmission, the perfect safety configuration, and the Bayern Munich team bus are not much different.
Similarly, the design of the vehicle's livery is also very simple. The overall livery is mainly white, and the rear of the car adopts the German flag color elements to highlight its identity. The logo is also on the rearview mirror, but the appearance of the vehicle has not been greatly changed.
The interior is furnished in the same way as the buses in Bayern Munich. The main space in the car is used to install comfortable leather seats to facilitate the commuting between the courts. A large kitchen was also installed at the rear of the car to ensure the dining needs of the players.
RB Leipzig also chose the new lion's coach as their team bus, with the vehicle delivered in March this year. The car is still based on the 14-meter-long lion's coach l, but it is equipped with a MAN OPTIVIEW electronic rearview mirror system, which can provide a wider safety vision. The vehicle's powertrain has been upgraded to a 510 hp d2676 loh engine, which is more powerful and more environmentally friendly.
Active and passive safety is readily available. The vehicle is equipped with upgraded ESP and ACC systems, and also adds Mann's latest side blind spot monitoring system, man attentionguard driver monitoring system, etc. It is worth mentioning that Julian Nagelsmann, the coach of RB Leipzig, has a bus driver's license, and he often personally drives the bus to take the players between the stadiums, and is the first person to start the bus before it is delivered. He himself spoke highly of the bus, believing it to be a comfortable, high-standard bus that could not be reached by previous buses.
(P.S.: Julian Nagelsmann has now moved to Bayern Munich)
The design elements on the side of the vehicle go without saying. After all, it is the Red Bull football team leipzig, and the paint on the side of the vehicle is mainly white, leaving a wide space for the play of the pattern. At the rear of the vehicle, two well-built Red Bulls galloped out, enhancing the muscles and movements of the vehicle. Other white places are not idle, filled with sponsor logos and black lines, and added team logos. The overall livery design is not only pleasing to the eye, but also highlights the elements of the team.
Unlike the previous two buses, this one is mainly used for the rest and commuting of players, and no large kitchen is installed. The interior of the car is packed with 33 comfortable leather seats, each with leg rests to help the players relax.
Three 19-inch TVs and one 22-inch TV are installed on the roof, and apple TVs and satellite dishes are installed to alleviate boredom during long commutes.
The vehicle's kitchen is not much different from the road passenger version of lion's coach, with multiple lockers installed as well as microwave ovens for emergency use. There are several refrigerators on board, while unlimited Red Bull energy drinks are served.
Mann also delivered a number of next-generation TGX tractors to Red Bull Leipzig in bulk, making it easier for the team to pull a variety of support trailers.
On closer inspection, most of Germany's well-known football teams have begun to use the new generation of lion's coach as a logistics bus. In addition to mann's sponsorship, its excellent quality is also worthy of praise. The Borussia Mönchengladbach club has also recently installed lion's coach, which we will take a closer look at in a later article.
In addition to the Mann brand, there are also many teams that have adopted neoplan buses, such as the Neoplan cityliner used by the Russian national football team. We will take stock of their stories in a future article. Thank you for reading this article, and don't forget to follow us on the Commercial Vehicle Network!
