On the occasion of the hit of "Under the Warm Sun", Jiao Yongliang, the director of the film and television monologue dialogue, asked him to talk about the experience of intensive output in recent years.

Urban dramas should be strongly related to reality
When watching "Under the Warm Sun", many viewers were angry with Song Shuang (played by Leng Jiyuan). No way, this man who is so tall and far-reaching, delicious and lazy, is really too uncontroversial. A college student who has just entered the society has just been dumped by reality with a few big mouths, and he is stagnant and poses as if he were eating and waiting for death.
However, in Jiao Yongliang's view, people like Song Are the only ones, which are not uncommon in reality. "Life may not be so extreme, not so dramatic, we focus a lot of problems on one person. But if you think about it carefully, you will find that many of his problems are actually very common in society. ”
In fact, Song is the only one who has been "condensed".
The common means of promoting the plot of urban dramas is to arrange stage characters to appear, who either hinder or accelerate the action process of the protagonist, so that they constantly suffer setbacks and thus grow. But this is not the case with this drama.
Although the play tells the story of three generations, there are only 6 main characters, and there are few functional idle pens. It is precisely because of this that the main characters in "Under the Warm Sun" can almost be described as "full".
"There are no perfect people in the play, they have more or less problems with them. In addition to "Under the Warm Sun", Jiao Yongliang also participated in the filming of another major play this year, "Ideal Shines on China". It is a 40-episode anthology of poetry, each telling a separate story. Jiao Yongliang directed three units: "Tianhe", "Field of Hope" and "Icebreaker". This was also the first time he was involved in the shooting of the subject creation.
"Tianhe" tells the story of the construction of the Hongqi Canal, and "Breaking the Ice" tells the history of the development of the vegetable industry in Shouguang, Shandong. "Field of Hope" tells the story of Lei Jinyu (Zhao Liying) who led his hometown out of poverty and became rich. Although they are all realistic paths, the three different stories are also filmed with different emphases.
"In fact, when I received the task, I was still very nervous. "Field of Hope" is okay, the story takes place in 2015, I am more familiar with it. "Tianhe" is the 60s of the last century, "Icebreaker" is the 80s of the last century, I don't know much about that era, I have never made this kind of drama in the past, and my heart is really bottomless. ”
In order to learn more real details, but also in order to give themselves a reassurance, before the overall preparation of the crew, Jiao Yongliang went to Linxian County, Shouguang, and Houmenping Village to conduct a field investigation and talk with local residents in detail.
"There are a lot of things that you can't touch without going down to collect wind." In "Field of Hope", we filmed the rice dumplings, sticky rice and brown sugar of the Shes, as well as the local folk dances and festivals. These are things that were not covered in the original script, and they are hardly found on the Internet. It has to go into life to discover. ”
In fact, the script of "Tianhe" was also changed later. In the original idea, the focus of the story was on the emotions of Wu Zutai and his wife. But when he arrived at hongqiqu and deeply understood the spirit of hongqiqu, Jiao Yongliang changed his mind. "I told the screenwriter that a love story is not enough to present the true spirit of the Red Flag Canal."
In the current version, the audience sees more of a real reproduction.
What problems do the canals face, what kind of real survival and working state is, what to wear, where to sleep, what to eat, how to tie the rope, how to put the detector, how to dig the tunnel... Almost all of them have a history to follow. Even the majesty and direction of the lofty mountains in the picture are roughly the same as those shown in the documentary.
However, Jiao Yongliang did not want to pursue a complete reproduction. Corresponding to the realistic details is the freehand jump in "Tianhe". The most classic shot in this episode is the scene of "water sprinkling people to death".
Because she overturned two buckets of water, the daughter-in-law chose to commit suicide in chagrin. On the one hand, the real dilemma of water scarcity is further reinforced. On the other hand, it also strengthens the urgency and greatness of the construction of the Hongqi Canal. In this shot, Jiao Yongliang uses a strong contrast of black and red colors to push this cruel atmosphere to a poetic high point.
If "Tianhe" is a confrontation between man and nature; then "Field of Hope" and "Icebreaker" are game between people. "In fact, in the process of rural revitalization, there will be various conflicts. You have to convince the villagers to accept the revitalization plan you offer. Like Lei Jinyu advocating the cultivation of sugar cane, why should people listen to you? There is also convincing families that college graduates give up their jobs in the city and return to the countryside, which is difficult for them to accept. ”
The story styles of the three units are different, and each has its own characteristics. The linguistic characteristics and dramatic conflicts of "Icebreaker" are more obvious. In Jiao Yongliang's view, this is thanks to the help of director Fu Dongyu: "How people talked in the 1980s, what was the social environment at that time, and when the script was read, Director Fu made a detailed explanation. ”
For Jiao Yongliang, participating in the creation of "Ideal Shines on China" is probably a coincidence of chance. But the depth of his intentions was seen by everyone. At present, he has reached a long-term cooperative relationship with Fu Dongyu, the general director of "Ideal Shines on China", and Gao Jinxi, the producer of "Tianhe", "Field of Hope" and "Icebreaker".
"Looking back now, it was a very meaningful thing to make this drama. Some time ago, "Ideal Shines on China" entered the campus, and many children saw those touching stories. This is a vivid education. ”
Attitude is the first meaning of creation
Summarizing his years of creative experience, Jiao Yongliang believes that the most precious thing is the attitude, persistence and details. Needless to say, the restoration of the Red Flag Canal in "Tianhe" is enough to illustrate this point.
Attitude is the first meaning of creation. Although he is a director from a chinese opera background, Jiao Yongliang did not devote himself to directing at the beginning of graduation. At first, he worked for Jiangsu Television, and later went to Beijing Television to produce column dramas. Although it is also a shooting thing, it is actually 18,000 miles away from the imaginary director's responsibility.
By chance, he withdrew, picked up the guide tube, and embarked on a road to split the wind and waves. It is precisely because he always puts his professional attitude first, Jiao Yongliang and director Wang Xiaokang reached a cooperative relationship.
Wang Xiaokang is an urban life drama "Dana", which has created a series of works around the emotional topics of contemporary urban youth. From 2011 to 2016, the two worked together for five years and produced more than a dozen dramas.
The period of cooperation with Wang Xiaokang was the vigorous growth period of Jiao Yongliang's "sponge water absorption".
"The first drama we cooperated with was "The Story of Qian Duoduo Marrying People", two or three days before the end, the well-off director had something to do, because he trusted me more, so he handed over the finishing work to me. It may be that he thinks that I have a positive attitude, and when he shoots "The New Son-in-Law Era" and "Husband's Spring", he let me shoot a lot of hands-on shooting. I am especially grateful to director Xiaokang, in the process of working with him, I have learned a lot and grown a lot. ”
Persistence is the professional belief that Jiao Yongliang has never forgotten. When filming "Under the Warm Sun", this belief was once again successful. In the play, the interior scene of Changcheng Insurance, where Song Sining and Chen Songying are located, is actually borrowed from the office of the Ningbo branch of Fangtai Company. At the beginning of the selection of the scene, Jiao Yongliang saw it at first glance and decided to shoot here.
"Because the tone of this office is particularly feminine, stylish and elegant. But because the last crew made some unpleasant noise when they were filming there, they refused to receive the crew again. Later, we went to ask for someone's house, and it was useless to say anything. I was thinking, I must shoot here, this scene is too appropriate. ”
It is said that good things are more grinding, but Jiao Yongliang was not completely sure at that time. Later, producer Zhao Qiongfang and producer Chen Chunxia together, pulled Jiao Yongliang directly to Fangtai headquarters to find the person in charge of the other party. The sincere attitude impressed the other party, who said that the crew could shoot on the weekend. Good things grind out.
"After so many years in the industry, my impression is that many times as long as you stick to it, the final result is always good.
