U.S. Department of Justice: Coroneal has recovered some of the bitcoin ransoms paid to the hacking group

The U.S. Department of Justice said on June 7 local time that it has recovered a bitcoin ransom of about $2.3 million worth of bitcoin that the Colonil Pipeline Company paid to the hacking group last month.

The Justice Department said it seized 63.7 bitcoins, worth about $2.3 million, from the hacking group's accounts that day. The Justice Department called the use of technology to extort businesses and regions "the challenge of the 21st century." The US media pointed out that this operation marks the first time that a newly established working group of the Ministry of Justice has recovered the ransom by hacking into the bitcoin account of the hacking group.

It is reported that the Large U.S. Oil Pipeline Operator Colonil Pipeline Company was attacked by a hacking organization in May, and once triggered a fuel supply outage in many parts of the United States, resulting in a surge in fuel prices.
