The survey frequency is once a month, a total of 54 species of birds in 11 orders and 30 families are recorded, and the total number of birds observed is 6144 times. Among them, there are 36 species of resident birds, 13 species of winter migratory birds and 5 species of summer migratory birds.
Among these birds, the main birds are passeriformes, accounting for about 57.41% of the total; followed by the stork family Heron family, accounting for about 25.93%.

From the perspective of the residency type of birds
Among the 54 species of birds surveyed, 34 species of resident birds accounted for 62.96% of the total; 14 species of winter migratory birds, accounting for 25.93% of the total; and 6 species of summer migratory birds, accounting for 11.11% of the total.
Winter migratory birds are more abundant than summer migratory birds, indicating that Yundang Lake is a wintering area for birds. Among them, resident birds and summer migratory birds breed in the Xiamen area and are breeding birds, while winter migratory birds do not breed in Xiamen and are non-breeding birds.

Where do the birds like to be in the Lake District?
Because the feeding habits and ecological habits of different birds are different, their activity areas are also different, which is manifested in the distribution of bird communities adapted to specific habitats. According to the habitat characteristics of the Yundang Lake area, it is divided into several habitats such as water surface, slope along the embankment, grassland, shrubland, trees, and artificial buildings.
The lake is dominated by small cormorants, [common] cormorants, red-billed gulls and other nomads, and herons, mynas, common kingfishers and white-breasted emeralds often fly on the lake.

Pond herons
Along the slopes of the embankment and mangroves are mainly waders, common are a variety of heron birds, in addition to the [common] kingfisher, bead-necked dove, white-headed grebe, etc. are also more common, mangrove areas often have mercerizing starlings, white-breasted bitter birds and black water chickens.

Little egrets
There are large artificial meadows in the lake area, many birds will feed and move on it, and the large number of birds mainly feeds on grass seeds and small insects in the grassland, such as [tree] sparrows, squids, starlings, black-collared starlings and so on.

Birds that prefer grassland habitats include magpies and grey magpies.
Grey Magpie
The preference for shrub habitats are mainly small passeriformes and more fearful birds of the grebe family, common ones are dark green embroidered birds, spotted birds, tree wrens, brown willow warblers, brown-headed wren warblers, yellow-bellied wren warblers and so on.
There are many birds active in the arborvitae and cover a wide range of species, of which the songbird species and number are the largest, including black-necked starlings, mercerizing starlings, starlings, brown-backed burrows, white-headed grebes, etc.; as well as stagnant night herons, egrets, herons and other wading birds.

The artificial building area is mainly some of the garden birds that are less afraid of people, such as sparrows, white-headed plovers and squids, etc., and the community with a good green environment often has gray magpies, black starlings and dark green embroidered birdes.
