Yixing produces more than 3,000 kinds of pottery for daily use, construction, chemical industry and so on, of which purple sand pottery enjoys a high reputation in the world. At the end of 1955, after the Completion of the Socialist Transformation of Yixing Pottery, in 1956 there was a new development in pottery production, and the gross domestic product of this year increased by more than 30% compared with 1955, and the public-private ceramic factories and pottery production cooperatives made a total of 104 new products.
