Ma Gongyu inherited his family's education at an early age, and a little longer studied under Rui'an Sun Yaorang, studied Zhou Ding Qin Quan and carved strange characters in stone, and later attended wenzhou middle school with his brother Meng Rong. Its calligraphy seal, li, true, grass are all exquisite, the real grass takes the law bell, the king, the pen is thick, the breath is mellow; the seal is more powerful, and the title of the book is spread all over the country. Painting is good at landscapes, flowers, birds and fish, etc., seal carving to take the Law of Qin and Han, explore the source, without the slightest habit of being close, but all are covered by the title of the book, known as "calligraphy master" and "art garden all-rounder".
He successively served as a director of the Shanghai Fine Arts Association and the Chinese Painting Society, a standing director of the China Art Education Society, and was hired as a painter by the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy in his later years and pre-social affairs of the Shanghai Golden Stone Seal Carving Research Society.
