Directed by Gong Zhaohui and starring Zhang Luyi, Nie Yuan, Han Xue, Guo Xiaoting, Cao Weiyu, Huo Qing, etc., the spy drama "The Front Runner" is being broadcast in Dangbei Film and Television. Based on the novel "Party Group", the play tells the story of an underground party member Ma Tianmu and Tang Xianping, a classmate who participated in the secret service organization "Revival Society" in the early 1930s.
In the early 1930s, because of the betrayal of traitors, the Party organization in Shanghai was seriously damaged, and many revolutionary comrades were arrested and killed. Ma Tianmu (Zhang Luyi), an underground member of the Communist Party of China, came to Shanghai to cover up his identity as the manager of the foreign firm in the French Concession and set up an intelligence network for our party in the French Concession to facilitate the work.
Before meeting with Wu Chongxin, the head of the Shanghai underground party, Ma Tianmu first met his old classmate Tang Xianping (Nie Yuan), who is now the chief of the investigation department of the Shanghai Police Station, and his main job is to lead people to surround and suppress our party personnel. Ma Tianmu and Tang Xianping had a life-and-death relationship, and in order to facilitate the work, Ma Tianmu decided to take Tang Xianping as a breakthrough.
After repeated contacts, Tang Xianping suspected ma Tianmu's identity, and after many investigations, determined the identity of Ma Tianmu's underground party member. Tang Xianping fell into a dilemma, not only to take into account Ma Tianmu's life-saving grace, but also because of the position problem had to stand against him. Among all the Japanese spies, Lu Yi (Han Xue) is the one who hides the deepest, the surface is gentle like water and weak and helpless, but the actual mind is meticulous and deep. In order to obtain intelligence, Lu Yi used his status as a French orphan to win the sympathy of Ma Tianmu and Inspector General Fan Yiting. In the end, Lu Yi's identity was revealed and he died at the hands of Ma Tianmu and Tang Xianping.
In the finale, Lu Yi's identity was revealed and he committed suicide, Jiang Jiqing was arrested, and Jiang Yunqing lost contact with the organization and died of illness in a foreign land. After completing his mission, Ma Tianmu chose to go to the next battlefield and continue to dedicate the rest of his life to the cause of our party. Tang Xianping was wanted for defecting to the party-state and had to change his appearance and live in another capacity.
