Li Weidong, who lives in Xinglin Street, began to really learn to collect when he graduated from university in 1994, and has been involved in collecting for more than 20 years, and now he collects more than 2,000 works of famous calligraphy and paintings, nearly 2,000 seals, as well as many porcelain, old furniture and so on. "I hope to find a space to display thousands of pieces of the collection, so that more people can understand the history and culture of Xiamen and southern Fujian."
In order to collect the salary are spent
When he was a child, Li Weidong liked stamp collecting, and often exchanged stamps with his friends for other collections. In 1994, Li Weidong graduated from university and began to really dabble in collecting. "At that time, the network was not developed, the information was blocked, it was difficult to find relevant materials, and the collection of knowledge mainly depended on self-study." Li Weidong introduced that at the beginning, he used the art expertise he learned in college to buy some calligraphy and painting works that others could not see from the comprehensive evaluation of the techniques, techniques, and materials used in the works. At that time, the monthly salary was only more than 180 yuan, and Li Weidong often "spent all the money" to buy calligraphy and painting works. Two years after graduation, Li Weidong bought a work by Ming Dynasty painter Zhang Dafeng by chance. "At that time, although it took two years of savings, I was still very happy to be able to buy Zhang Dafeng's works."
Later, Li Weidong also collected porcelain and furniture. "If you want to pick up leaks, you need to reserve a lot of knowledge and practice a unique vision." Li Weidong bought all kinds of related books and learned to collect and appreciate knowledge from books. In his living room was a pile of books, more than a meter high, and he had read them all. Li Weidong said that collecting sometimes starts from picking up rags, and even "treasure hunting" from the waste pile. Once, he scooped up a sack of examination papers from the old paper pile, and after sorting them out, he found that most of the owners of the examination papers lived in the late Qing Dynasty, from several colleges in Tong'an and Xiamen at that time.
Li Weidong said that if you master the collection identification skills, good things will "speak" on their own. Li Weidong once bought back a piano table, and at that time, the piano table was full of dust and could not see the original face. After cleaning up the dust, he found that the piano table was very beautifully made, "after cleaning, its life was rejuvenated again, and its value was reflected."
I hope to find a venue to display the collection
Today, Li Weidong has a collection of more than 2,000 famous calligraphy and painting works, nearly 2,000 seals, as well as many porcelain, furniture, etc., and several rooms in the home are full of collections.
"The greatest pleasure of collecting is to understand the story behind each collection, and a new one can be admired for a long time." Li Weidong told reporters that each collection is the bearer of a historical fragment, which can restore the story behind a piece of culture or history, which is the charm of the collection. At present, he is busy sorting out the collection of ma zhaolin and Ma Zhengxiang's father and son calligraphy and painting works, and preparing to publish a book. Ma Zhaolin was a famous calligrapher and painter in the late Qing Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty, and his son Ma Zhengxiang was the last person to raise people in the late Qing Dynasty, and served as the first principal of The Way South School in Singapore and the Zhi County of Tong'an County.
Li Weidong has donated collections to the Municipal Museum. Nowadays, Li Weidong's biggest wish is to find a suitable venue to display the collection and help more citizens understand the history and culture of Xiamen and southern Fujian.
