"Please show your health code during the nucleic acid test, thank you for your cooperation!"

Scan the code in and out, measure the body temperature, patiently explain... Wearing protective clothing, 26-year-old Wei Changhao tirelessly reminded the crowd to keep their distance and explained the precautions for nucleic acid testing. From 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., he stayed at his post.

Wei Changhao is a 2019 master's student at the Clinical College of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Gansu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. As a third-year graduate student, he has obtained a practicing physician certificate, and his greatest wish is to graduate as a doctor as soon as possible.

"In this epidemic prevention and control, I did not have the opportunity to go to the 'frontline', but I can be a volunteer and use my professional expertise to help prevent and control the epidemic in the community." Wei Changhao said.

Recently, the new crown pneumonia epidemic has struck Gansu. At the critical moment, medical college students from Lanzhou University, Northwest University for Nationalities, Gansu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and other institutions of higher learning have applied to join the ranks of young volunteers. At present, 10,200 medical college students in Gansu Province have signed up for "Please Fight".

Wei Changhao solemnly handed over the "Please Fight" book. At Gansu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, more than 3,000 students answered the call in less than an hour. Wei Changhao did not tell his parents about this decision. "My mom and dad are doctors, and I think they'll support my decision." I just followed in the footsteps of my fathers and did what I was supposed to do. He said.

Wei Changhao's service location is the nucleic acid testing point of Huaqiao Experimental Primary School in Lanzhou. Before participating in volunteer service, schools, streets, and communities have organized three rounds of training, repeatedly training technical essentials and emphasizing precautions.

"Our main job is to look at the health code, enter information, label the nucleic acid test tubes, and it is not difficult to do these auxiliary tasks. I'm happy to share some of the work for the health care workers. Wei Changhao said.

In the past few days, Round after round of large-scale nucleic acid testing in Lanzhou, Wei Changhao and his classmates have been busy from morning to night. At the end of the day, my whole body was soaked with sweat.

"These young people are professional and enthusiastic, really engaged!" Yang Zhaochang, a citizen of Lanzhou, heard that many of the volunteers were college students studying medicine and couldn't help but give a thumbs up. Several community workers said: "We buy them water and food, and they always bow and say 'thank you', euphemistically saying that changing protective clothing is too troublesome. ”

"Although it feels a little bitter and tiring, when I become a volunteer and can feel the warmth of the city in a time of crisis, these problems are small things." Yang Tao, another university student volunteer, said.

In Yang Tao's eyes, although the weather has become cold, the city is not cold because of many warm people: some elderly people who are inconvenient to move, in order not to add trouble to the community, politely refuse the staff to do nucleic acid testing, insisting that the family push the wheelchair to the nucleic acid testing point; some children do nucleic acid testing with their parents, while shedding tears, while taking the initiative to open their mouths to cooperate with nucleic acid testing; some families of three send hot milk tea; some elderly people stuff hot buns into the hands of volunteers...

"Teacher, I can also help with nucleic acid testing at night, can I go?"

"Teacher, if you can, please arrange for me in the evening."

"College students in the new era dare to take responsibility and have a strong sense of social responsibility. I'm so proud of them! Wang Wei, a leading teacher at Gansu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, said.

It was late at night, and Wei Changhao and the volunteers finished their day's work. He changed out of his protective clothing and looked at the lights of wanjia, and his heart was full of warmth. "As long as we unite as one, we will definitely defeat the epidemic!" He said.
