On the occasion of the Global Climate Summit, more than 50 of the world's top Olympic and Paralympic athletes from more than 45 countries collectively called on governments around the world to create a "health and safety" planet.
In a video titled "To Dear World Leaders," athletes including tennis champion Andy Murray, Kenyan two-time Olympic champion and marathon record holder Erud Kipchoge, Spanish basketball player and three-time Olympic medalist Paul Gasol spoke out.
Several athletes from countries such as Qatar, the United States, Kenya, Brazil, Australia, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom supported the event. It was an initiative of gold medalist Hannah Mills and was supported by the International Olympic Committee.
